"Well lots of people tell me in PMs they agree with me" blah blah blah

Ok I've seen this 'argument' used three times in the past couple of days, and a few other times on this board as well.

You know what I mean - someone will be post a message saying something like, "I get lots of PMs from people here telling me they agree with what I say, but they just don't want to say it publicly here because they are afraid then they won't be accepted in the in-crowd" or some other such drivel.

Well, just who the fuck do they think will be impressed by that? Because there are only two possibilities behind a statement like that:

Possibility #1- The statement is actually true, and this person has actually recieved PMs in support of his/her position. By a bunch of friggin cowards, who are scared of not being liked by the other anonymous people on the porn board, for fuck's sake! Must be good to know THEY'VE got your back.

Possibility #2- It's a pathetic, desperate lie, designed to make whoever the person is debating question their own position for fear of losing popularity. Ooooooh, scary.

I mean, really. How juvenile. What are we, in high school?

Peachy, I agree that it's a poor tactic. I think the person who uses the tactic often hurts their own cause.

Equally as difficult to understand are those posters who PM to show their agreement and support, and then post exactly the opposite on the board. In a recent argument with Lance, I received several PM's that said they agreed with my opinion of Lance, but then a couple of them posted messages on the board in which they kissed Lance's ass.

I honestly think there are a lot of insecure people on this board that can't handle the idea that they can't be adored by EVERYONE.

Sorry, it's pretty silly. I've found that not only do they offer support to you in PM's only, but few will even speak to me on the board anymore, most likely for fear of being trolled. It's to the point that when I post, I feel like I did when I first came to the GB...invisible. And thats cool, I've been talking to myself all my life.
