My background is technical writing. I have never had the ability to desire to write creatively. In fact, even as a child, I never could even come up with something to write about.

Much to my surprise, I had an inspiration for a story. I wrote it. It's a combination of facets of an online game I play and bdsm. It is very much on the fence.. not truly fantasy, erotic, but not explicit.

Soooo, wondering... what to do now? I had 2 people read it (I was scared to death, they both liked it a lot). I'm not sure what to do now... since I sort of pounded it out, it needs a little editing. Also, it has no title, and I'm sort of stumped on that.

I wanted to ask... if the explicitness is not there... will it have less appeal? Also, the story will obviously continue... but is at a natural breaking point and (I think) stands on it's own as it is.

I'm really excited that I wrote something at least a couple people like... just unsure where to take it :)

If your background is technical writing, then you probably have a lot of passive voice in your story -- you need to weed out as much as possible. (e-mail me if you need more info on passive voice and why it should be weeded out.)

Once you've edited and revised to your satisfaction and sought the opinion of your spelling and grammar check, check out the volunteer editor's page, and pick three or four (or more) to review your story. If you haven't decided on a title, ask the editors to suggest one -- a good title will make a big difference in readership.

There are several stories here that are not overly explicit that are aappealing -- at least they get scores. Sunpath by Creamylady comes to mind as one that isn't overly explicit but is a very good story nonetheless.

For starters, take it to the volunteer editors, then submit it when you've taken their comments into consideration.
