If I'm dropping out of sight for a few days, it's because my computer just flatlined. Not bugged out or won't load the system or anything. It died. Fans dont spin up, battery doesnt charge. I'm writing this from some kind of a geeky phone that is actually pretty cool. It uses my wireless network and loads Lit perfectly on a tiny screen. But id rather not. At least ive learned my lesson from earlier and made backups, but what good do those do without something to restore it to?

and i have a deadline tomorrow.
*le sigh* i fucking hate technology.

If it helps, have you tried checking the connection from the power supply to the motherboard. If that's a-okay, then my diagnosis would be that it's probably the power supply cocking up. See if you can buy the next wattage up to ensure that it won't overload again.

Good advice, and i would have. If it had been a regular tower. It'a a laptop however, and im not trustimg myself to safely dig into that armed with a screwdriver. Besides, ive got warranty left, so i have someone to bitch about it to. I think iLl start there. Now, all i need is something to write my two artigles jobs, my three grade papers and my four demo songs on the coming three weeks...

Seriously considering writing one of the articles on this phone. Its a review. Of the phone.

God bless your little cotton socks. I needed to hear someone say that today.

Okay. My advice for laptops is to run away, screaming. It's probably still the power pack, but you're right on not wanting to dig into one of those. You can probably get a bog-standard second hand PC for £40 which'll tide you over until you can get your laptop fixed. Doesn't matter how slow, so long as you can run Word, right?

Good luck.

Well, you appear to be fairly cogent on the phone. If you hadn't told me, I wouldn't've noticed the difference between that post and one you did on your normal comp.

Its some new fancy Nokia thing with a full qwerty keyboard. I can write Word files on it even. (the article is 1/3 done already) Just too bad I'll have to give this wondergizmo back tomorrow, I could get used to this.

*holds up cross against Liar's laptop*

I don't like laptops. Freaky little things!

my sympathies, liar. my own laptop died 6 weeks ago and it took a few weeks to acquire a replacement.

Lay it across your Lap and give it a good spanking...
if that don't work use the warranty <grin

Shit. This'll take at least a week, once you get their attention.

Can you bum from a friend?

Good luck Liar!!

Perhaps a local library has computers you can type on? Just think of the good conversation you can strike up with the pretty girls there.... ;)

Just think of the alarm bells going off in the library when you try to access 'Lit'. not to mention the red flashing lights 6 inches tall spelling the word 'PERVERT' and pointing the finger at the top of your head. :nana:

Personally I prefer the A4 pad and pencil approach. ;)

Liar....

The powersupply as such in your laptop is mostly in the box on the power cord...

See if you can find someone with a laptop like yours and try theirs or go to a store that handles the brand and see if you can try a new one from them...

Just a suggestion but worth the little time it would take...

Ah, yes. Tried that too. But I had a good battery there, and fully loaded two minutes before the meltdown, so it should be able to al least buzz a little on that. But...no.

Anyway, the über computer whiz down the hall went berserk on it with a screwdriver, opened a panel on the flipside of it that I didn't even know existed, and fished out the hard drive. Then he hooked that up via some IDE to USB converter gizmobob as an extra drive on his computer, and made a backup of the whole thing. And I managed to borrow a puter from work. It's an archaic piece of junk, but it works.

So nothing is lost, except my time and peace of mind. Gonna send the fucker in on behalf of warranty and see what happens.
