It's a sad event worthy of a little reflection, though we are in no real position to point fingers at the Chinese, which was the gist of one news item I read.

It is a shame. I don't worry for myself so much, but I show my kid as much as possible in nature and how incredible it is for that very reason.

Up to half the species on the planet are slated to become extinct by 2100 - given the accelerated degradation observed in other areas of the biosphere, coral extinction, polar melt, etc., this may be a generous estimate.
