Well as the UK has a holiday on Monday...

Dunno for sure...

it's a sort of mid-summer break and our last until Christmas...

This is the weekend of the NottingHill Carnival as well so we need a day off to get over that! At least us Londoners do...

:D

HOLIDAY ...

yea i noticed the holiday listed as a British holiday on my calendar pp ...

and yet Aug 6 (which was a Canadian holiday btw) was also a Scottish holiday ...

what's up with that pp?

maybe it's sort of like when Quebec and the rest of Canada have different holidays ...

and yea we canadians get labour day off too ... prolly quebec too although i'm not sure ... september 3rd this year ... wow that is early ...

your last til Christmas? that sucks ... at least we get Thanksgiving day ... although ours is on a different day than the states ...

WOO HOO! just found out i'm getting $20 an hour to work this labor day for 8 hours...hot damn! i'm a college student...that's decent money...

Ahhhh the August bank holiday is one of my favourites, every year we would jump on our scooters and buzz down to the Isle of White down on the south coast of the UK and meet up with thousands of other scooterists.

Then we'd go on the piss and dance like fool's all night, chat up the birds and see if we could get a shag..........happy days ;)

Speaking as an ageing rocker to us it was Clacton, Brighton and Margate!

I've still got some scooterist's coat (can't remember the name now, the ones with the fur hood, zip pockets all over the place and came only in a sort of greish green colour) that I won in combat.

Well actualy I found it under the pier at Clacton...

But yes Summer Bank Holidays. Rock Concerts and the rest.

I remember them well!

:D

That coat would be a "Parka" and you'd go buy it from "Silvermans" just off the Mile end road along with your paratrooper boots and your MA1 jacket, these days you buy what ever the hell you want and wear it but I still to this day own a MA1 jacket and paratrooper boot's......old habits die hard :D

by sunday night only one stabbing [fortunately the guy didnt die] must be the traditional bank holiday weather that is keeping the violence down only 250,000 people there for sunday.
10,000 police on duty on monday , weather report = sunny

You should adopt Thanksgiving in November. After all, we were bowing to the Queens and Kings back then. It's a great holiday.

We've always wanted it. We were going to send an advance party over in the 70s to take it off you...but decided you might get a little bit annoyed at that.

Nowadays we just have to be satisfied with watching America celebrating Thanksgiving in all those Hollywood films...

As I said "it's the way the cookie crumbles!!"...

:D
