Welcome to the Wasteland (closed)

When she mentioned about changed out of her vault suit completely, he had thought to tell her to just leave it on. After all, it seemed snug enough to not impede with the new armor to serve as protective underarmor. However, he decided to keep quiet about that for the time being. That was something he could tell her later. In the meantime, he would just enjoy things.

"More ammo for your weapon? I think I might have a few rounds laying around from scavenging. Let me look."

He watched her walk off, smiling for a moment. He was a little surprised that she wanted to leave so quickly, but she couldn't blame her for her eagerness. He had planned on giving her a day or so to catch her wits, but this was just as well. Once she was out of sight, he rummaged through his supply of ammo. He smiled as he came up with about a hundred rounds in fusion cells, hopefully plenty enough to get them to Miami.

As he waited on her to finish up, John climbed back into his Power Armor. He made sure he had plenty of fusion cores to keep him going for a few days so he could wait to make more. Satisfied, he made his way to the edge of the settlement to watch the settlers working the crops as he waited on Lucy.

Lucy kinda liked the idea of being able to tease John at a moment's notice by flaunting her figure. It was kind of nice to have someone who admired it after being ignored for pretty much her entire life. She had complete control over when to make the middle portions of the armor more skin-tight and transparent. Maybe she could have a little fun over this trip if she could work up the courage to tease him. Or maybe John would do it for her, grab her hand and sneak his fingers to her wrist and press that button to reveal her for him? Lucy kind of liked that scenario better. Guilty for her thoughts and a little aroused, Lucy stripped out of her armored vault suit and placed it in her bag. Then she slipped into the new armor. It was cool against her skin. The material was pliant but strong. It fit nicely. She liked it. She played with the button a few more times, grabbed her things, then headed outside to meet John, fully covered in the armor. The armor was skin tight, accentuating her soft curves.

Lucy found John waiting by the edge of the settlement by the farmlands. "I'm ready. Which way to Miami?"

John smiled when Lucy came up asking which way they would be going. Well, she probably wouldn't see him smiling, but that was beside the point. He turned and pointed down the railroad tracks leading away from the settlement.

"The best way for us to get to Miami will be following the railroad tracks. There's also a highway over that way," He pointed towards their left from the tracks,"We could take as well. Either way, it's gonna be a couple days of walking to get to Miami. We can follow the tracks all the way to the coast or turn south early along the road."

He knew there were plenty of buildings and a couple of 'cities' along the way that she would probably like to explore. He was in no hurry himself and enjoyed the exploration himself.

"I doubt we'll run into much trouble along the way, but keep your eyes open just in case. Ladies first."

"Let's follow the railroad tracks," Lucy said. She led the way in the direction John had pointed.

Their walk was uneventful for the better part of the morning. They didn't talk much so they would be more alert to their surroundings. Lucy liked the sound of birds when they flew overhead. Growing up in the vault all sounds had been fabricated. It was nice to both hear and see the real thing at once.

"Are there any places of the wasteland with a whole bunch of trees? Or is it all pretty drab like this?" she asked. She wasn't sure if the question was naive or not, but in the storybooks she'd had in the vault, the pre-apocalyptic outside world had looked more vibrant.

Before John got a chance to answer, a sinister growling sound interrupted them. "What is THAT?" Lucy pointed in horror at a literal zombie approached them at a fairly rapid pace from the sewage pipe in the stream they'd been passing. She scrambled to get her laser rifle ready to fire as another one appeared and began barreling toward them.

John was about to answer Lucy's question about the trees when she screamed and pointed towards the "zombie" that had stumbled out of the sewage pipe. He frowned as he decided they weren't worth the ammo, putting his rifle away.

"Ferals!"

The first one gave a little stumble over a tuft of grass before giving a scream as it noticed them. It was very much human, tattered clothing hanging from around it's midsection. It was literally nothing but skin and bones, typical of feral ghouls. It did make John wonder sometimes how the damn things managed to remain upright and mobile. It had zero hair on it's body, skin tight against it's shriveled muscles. They were unable to determine the sex, despite wearing anything to cover them. At this advanced stage, the men's balls and cocks would have shriveled up and most likely fallen off while women's vaginas grew extra flesh and closed completely. The second one going after Lucy was in a worse condition, every limb and body part, aside from the head, was bloated and engorged.

As the first feral rushed John, he was able to catch it by the neck in his large metal hand. The feral hissed and growled as it tried to claw at the metal of the power armor without doing much more than scratching it with it's long, gnarly fingernails. John could have easily snapped it's neck, but decided not to yet.

He pulled out a ripper with his free hand, pulling the trigger on the handle. The small chainsaw buzzed loudly as the small chain raced along at a fast speed. While holding the feral in place, he took his time cutting off each limb before throwing the wiggling creature on the ground. He finally stomped on it head, silencing it before he looked to see how Lucy was handling herself.

Disturbed at the very sight of the creature and absolutely terrified Lucy panicked and dropped her rifle to the ground. By the time she'd picked it up and stood back up, there was another one of the vile creatures emerging from the sewer pipes. Lucy couldn't hold back a short shriek as it got closer. She aimed hastily and fired. She missed her first three shots, but with the fourth, she hit its engorged stomach; it fumbled for a moment but didn't stop. She fired again. Missed.

"Damn it!" she cursed. She felt the urge to flee but knew she couldn't outrun it. She fired again, this time hitting it in the thigh. Its leg vaporized from her blast, but somehow it still hobbled along towards them.

Beside her, she heard the revving of a chainsaw and saw John had ripped the limbs off of the first feral before stamping on its head. Some of its blood splattered on her face and she wiped it off hastily. Had some of it gotten in her eye? Oh god. Oh god. She tried to aim again at the approaching feral she'd injured, but her hand was shaking violently. As the second feral closed in on them, she cowered behind John. At the same time, to her utter horror, a handful of other ferals followed from the sewer pipe. Lucy raised her laser rifle shakily and fired off a few rounds at the distant newcomers, knowing John would be able to handle the second feral no problem with his terrifying weapon. Being in the presence of such grotesque creatures of the situation was horrifying and her accuracy was compromised. Fear was getting the better of her.

John barely had enough time to register that Lucy had ducked behind him, trying to hide from the ferals. As the crippled one hopped closer to him, he used the ripper to stab it in the stomach and carve upwards. The ripper came out of it's right shoulder without much resistance from the leathery skin. That one fell into a bloody heap at his feet.

Counting three more coming at him, he frowned. He lowered his right shoulder and ran towards the closest one, knocking it backwards a few feet. The other two hissed as they tried to leap at the hulking suit of armor with outstretched arms. However, both missed and ended up on the ground behind John. He moved forward a few more feet before coming to a halt as he also trampled over the one he had knocked down.

He turned around and ran back to the last two as they began to try and get back up. He stepped on one of the feral's legs, snapping the limb under his weight. Leaving that one to scramble around, John grabbed the other one by it's neck as it stood up and jammed the ripper through it's skull before dropping the lifeless body to the ground.

"You know this is gonna cost you, don't you kitten? Now finish the job. You should be able to hit one this close, right?"

John smirked inside his helmet, even though his face was obscured.

As she'd hoped, John killed every last ghoul except for one, leaving it for her to finish off.

"You know this is gonna cost you, don't you kitten? Now finish the job. You should be able to hit one this close, right?"

If not for the horror of the situation and her repulsion at the creatures, those words would have sent a jolt of heat straight to her core. They did make her heartbeat even faster, if possible. Did he mean right now? Was he going to punish her as before? She missed her first shot as these thoughts distracted her. She was trying to finish the job as he'd requested. When she finally felled the last creature, many an energy cell wasted after that terrifying encounter with multiple zombies, and they stood alone by the railroad tracks along the toxic river, Lucy forced herself to look at John. She couldn't make out his expression, all she saw was the beady yellow holes in his helmet. "C-cost me how?" she asked. Was there a hopeful lilt to her voice?

He didn't say anything for a moment as he watched her dispatch the final feral ghoul, a little smirk at her question. It would be fun to punish her here, but it was a little too expose for his liking. He decided her punishment would be later.

"You'll just have to wait to find out kitten. Why don't you search the bodies and see what they got?"

Leaving her to take care of that, he walked over to the large sewer pipe. He shined his head light into the tunnel for a few moments, but he didn't find anything of interest besides a bunch of ruined garbage. He turned his attention back to her, watching his traveling partner go about the task of searching. Though the feral ghouls were mostly devoid of any sort of clothing, sometimes they worn tatters of clothing items. And it always amazed him on how they managed to carry things.

"We've going to have to get you some more practice with that weapon of yours. Missing liking that is really going to get you killed kitten."

Lucy went about searching the bodies extremely reluctantly. The zombies horrible and smelled even worse! She yanked the small scraps of clothing sticking to the rotting flesh off of the fallen ghouls. One had a lockpick in its mouth, jammed deep in its throat and another had some old currency in a scrap of clothing tucked on its waist. The rest didn't appear to have anything, although Lucy didn't exactly look very closely. She was repulsed by the sight of them. She was not cut out for this life.

At the suggestion she needed more training, Lucy nodded in agreement. "I'm sorry, they just really freaked me out. I didn't realize there were zombies out here."

They'd mentioned mutants when they spoke of the dangers of the wasteland back in the vault, but they'd kept the descriptions vague. She hadn't expected to run into a creature straight from one of the old world movies they screened inside the vault.

He gave a little frown for a moment, wondering where she had gotten the idea to call ferals zombies. He shook his head slightly as he made his way back over to her. However, he moved around behind her. He knew she probably wouldn't feel a thing through her armor, but he was pretty sure she was get the message. He spread his hand open for a moment before hitting his metal glove against her armored ass with enough force to make a loud clank and knock her forward as well.

"They aren't zombies, whatever that's supposed to be. Ferals are just humans who have been exposed to radiation so much without any help that they turn feral. They have no true mind to speak of and mindlessly attack anything they see. They really aren't a true threat to anyone in full protection armor, like you or I."

He moved past her before stopping and turning to her.

"Chances are we'll meet a ghoul sometime. They aren't feral like the feral ghouls, but they got exposed to radiation and survived. They have had much longer lives than us 'smoothskins' as they like to call us. Try not to attack anyone unless I say so."

He lifted a hand for a moment, motioning her to follow him as he began to walk down the railroad tracks once more.

Lucy yelped and stumbled forward a bit when John gave her ass a smack, even though the impact was dulled through her metal armor, she hadn't been expecting it. She turned and pouted at him, placed her hands on her hips, but didn't scold him for the slap. It had kind of excited her a little bit.

"You haven't heard of zombies? They're in the old world movies. They look just like that," she said.

She listened intently when he explained what ghouls were, and how some of them weren't feral like the vile creatures they'd just encountered. "Okay, so, just to clarify, I won't turn into one if it bites me right?" she asked.

She followed him along the railroad tracks as they spoke. She reloaded her weapon as they walked, then sheathed it back into its holster. She didn't want to miss again. She tried to mentally prepare herself for another attack, just in case. She didn't want to miss again.

"So there are people who look like that? That's so sad."

"Yea, some people get that way from the radiation. No one is really sure why. The people who've managed to survive the radiation bathe get to live a very long time. I've met a few that spoke of life before the Great War. Downsides is that they do turn feral after awhile, plus they lose their genitals as well. And no, bites won't turn you into one of them."

He gave a few more pointers as they walked, mostly interacting with them so she wouldn't get on their bad side. Ghouls weren't any different than regular humans, but there were still people that treated them differently. John had only had a couple of bad interactions with them, but that didn't dissuade him from being kind to them.

They pasted by a faded sign that read "Indiantown 10 miles" and below that random letters and a partial number barely readable.

"We should reach the next town shortly. Hopefully by nightfall and we can find someplace to rest."

The sun was starting to set when they came up a large industrial park a couple of miles from the town they were heading to. There seemed to be a large metal industrial building that was beckoning to them, a few of the outside floodlights still working. The front parking lot was partially filled with broken husks of cars while a large construction area was seen behind the building.

"Stay near me. It looks like there may be people here."

Lucy was glad to have John's advice about ghouls. She would hate to get off on the wrong foot with one of them over a misunderstanding. It was also great to hear the only way to turn into a ghoul was through radiation and not bites. It was a relief to have security in John's knowledge and strength. Despite their forceful meeting, Lucy thought she made the right choice by deciding to travel with him. She genuinely thought she would be dead by now if not for him.

They continued down the river, John educating her on ghouls, she telling him what she learned of the "Great War" from school back in the Vault and a little bit about the old world movies she'd seen. Eventually, they came across an imposing rectangular factory of some sort. She didn't see any indication of people, but John told her to stay close because apparently, he did. He didn't have to tell her twice! She made sure to keep pace with him as they approached the industrial building.

He took his time to walk through the parking lot, checking the husks of vehicles for any scrap. His search was fruitless for the most part, but he did find some scrap metal and copper wires to use for later. Once that was done, he lead them towards the front doors of the building. A large sign strectched along the front of the building reading "RobCo Robotics and Logicistics Co." with a Mister Handy on either side of the words.

Finding the doors unlocked, he pushed open the front doors. They foundt themselves in a rather large lobby. It was a mess with trash scattered everywhere, with a handful of desks tipped over. One was upright with a computer console on it, powered on. John had to leave his power armor as the fingers were too large to operate the keyboard.

"Why don't you search around a bit while I see of there is anything useful on the computer. Just keep an eye and ear out."

John smiled to Lucy for a moment before sitting down and typing at the computer.

Lucy was honestly terrified to go explore on her own after all that had happened so far, but she didn't want to appear weak in front of John. She licked her lips nervously then nodded. "Okay," she said simply.

She left him alone in the trashed, dusty lobby and went deeper into the factory, taking the entryway on the right first. She walked slowly, carefully, eyes and ears primed for any unusual sounds. Her hand twitched on her belt, ready to grab her gun at the first sign of trouble.

The first room she entered was empty, and so was the next. It seemed like a bunch of employee offices. All the computers inside of them were busted though, as far as she could tell. She did find a few caps in one of the desks and a pistol, both of which she took. Lucy kept going further down the hallway and rummaging around the offices as John investigated the computer in the lobby.

John hmmed quietly as he looked through the few files on the computer that were corrupted. He mostly found invoices and shipping orders for new Mister Handys in the 13 commonwealths. It was mostly junk, but he did find one file that made mention of a special order robot by some wealthy buyer. It was mostly talking about how experimental it was supposed to be, but didn't go into details. The rest of the files were corrupted.

Leaving the computer, he got back into his power armor and took note of the building layout that was next to the front door. Taking a moment to memorize it, he went off in search of Lucy. It didn't take him long to find her, resting a hand on her shoulder.

"Let's go check out the factory assembly area. There was supposed to be some new robot that wasn't delivered. Maybe it's still here and we can sell it for some caps."

Lucy could hear the 'clomp clomping' of the power armor as soon as John entered the hallway. She finished searching the cabinets, found nothing, and went out to meet him.

Lucy followed John's lead to the assembly area. There were some automatic turret weapons along the way, but they disabled them easily enough. What robots they did find were all just component parts. This place had been picked clean.

The assembly area was a complex array of winding conveyor belts and old machines, but in the corner next to a raised station labeled "Admin" sat a giant metal cylinder.

"Damn. It's gotta be in there right?" she asked as she examined the impenetrable cylinder. "Think that computer can get us in?" she gestured to the one sitting on the admin desk.

John got out of his power armor as Lucy checked on the large cylinder that might have the project they were looking for. Judging by the way the rest of the place looked cleaned over, he would have been surprised if the cylinder even had anything in it.

"Well, we can hope that it's in there. Judging from the looks of things, somebody could have just resealed the chamber after emptying it after taking the contents. We'll just have to see."

He tapped away at the keyboard, finding it had been encrypted like most terminals that were still working. It took him a few tries before opening up the command menu. There were a couple of entries from the engineers on the ludicrousness of the project, and amazement that the donor even gave them the right components to get things working right. After finishing the entries, he found the command to boot the program. He smiled for a moment before starting the sequence as he stepped back from the console.

"Here goes nothing kitten."

There was the sound of gears whirring and a yellow light on top of the cylinder started strobing. The front of the tube parted as the two halves slid away revealing a 5'4" life like fembot.

Lucy stood behind John as he hacked into the console and scanned through the emails. She hoped watching him would help her learn how to hack into terminals as well.

From the emails, it sounded like whatever robot that was inside this tube was some special, made to order, state of the art creation. There hadn't been any record of it being dangerous, but none the less Lucy gripped her newly found pistol tight when John pressed the command to open the containment cell.

The robot that emerged did not look anything like the scrambled scrap metal they'd found elsewhere in the factory. This robot had skin of some kind, and hair! It was utterly and totally naked, and it ws also very clearly a 'she'.

"Hello! Thank you for waking me..." the robot woman said. Her voice even sounded human, mostly, there was still definitely an unnatural tone to it. She surveyed the two of them, turning from one human to the next. She decided, in the end, to focus on John. She was, after all, a fembot manufactured specifically for a male customer.

"Sir." She approached John. "How may I get you off today?"

To say he was surprised was an understatement. He never in his wildest dreams thought something like this would ever be created. In all his traveling, he had never once came across anything like this. It took him a couple moments to realize the fembot was talking to him and what she was saying. He laughed and waved her off with a hand.

"No no, there's no need for that. It's not exactly the time for that. Do you have a name?"

He looked towards Lucy for a moment for her reaction as well, before looking back at the bot. Curious, he reached out and placed a hand on her right shoulder, squeezing slowly. He was surprised at just almost real she felt. There was give under his grip, but it didn't seem to be much as he could feel her "skeleton" underneath. It was like her 'skin' had been made of a cross between plastic and rubber. He pulled his hand away after a moment.

"I think we should probably set up camp for now and get something to eat kitten. And figure out more about you."

He chuckled and patted the fembot's shoulder for a moment

The fembot looked confused when John didn't accept her ability to pleasure. He said there was no need for that, it wasn't the time for that. Not a flat out 'no way'. Lucy wasn't exactly thrilled with John's response. It wasn't a real human, right? How could you even consider having sex with something that wasn't human?

John asked if it had a name and the robot answered, mostly deadpan, "I am Leah. I am horny. Won't you please take care of me?"

"Ew, John, what is this?" Lucy asked. "So this guy had her custom made, and he gave her a name? What if she's based on a real woman? This is so fucked up."

Lucy turned to the robot. "What are you made of? You seem so real."

"Leah" listed off plastic, rubber, and various other long-named components Lucy didn't know about.

She reached out and touched the fembot's other shoulder that John wasn't touching. The robot immediately moaned to have such attention from the pair of them and Lucy gasped and jerked her hand back. This was too weird.

"Um, okay..." She said when John suggested they set up camp in the robot factory and get to know this robot.

"Leah... do you know who you were made for?" Lucy asked.

"No. I believe they were in the middle of customizing my personality when I got locked in that container. I don't remember who I was made for."

This was definitely a new situation for John. He wasn't exactly sure how best to handle it yet, but that would come with time. He smiled for a moment and nodded his understanding.

"I see. It's nice to meet you Leah. You are truly a unique find I have to say. I'm John."

He looked around for a moment at the quiet factory floor before looking at Lucy.

"If you are going to stay here, we'll have to secure the place for the night. Why don't you go and barricade the front area and setup a camp in the lobby area. I'll check everything back here before getting some dinner ready."

He grinned and winked teasingly to Lucy for a moment.

"Think you can handle it by yourself kitten?"

"I'm Lucy," she introduced herself to the robot after John introduced himself. Lucy couldn't get past how realistic the robot looked. It was almost uncanny valley level, but only when she opened her mouth and spoke in that slight monotone. Otherwise, she looked like a beautiful woman. Lucy could hardly believe someone had custom ordered this!

John suggested she go secure them in for the night and asked if she could handle it.

"Yeah, I think I can handle it," Lucy said, rolling her eyes slightly. If John wanted to be alone with the sex robot, okay, whatever.

She left and headed to the front area of the building to ensure the entrance was locked.

The robot turned to John.

"Calibration needed. Please, remove your clothes and allow me to mold my body to yours. Please confirm sexual preference: Dominant or Submissive." She cocked her head at him as she awaited an answer. Her nipples were getting harder from just looking at him, but it was happening gradually, like a real women.

John blinked for a moment as he looked at the fembot, taken back for a moment by the need for him to be the one to calibrate her. Not that he would turn down such an act. However, he wasn't going to rush things yet.

"Submissive will be fine. First things first, wait here while I double check the exits."

He left his power armor in place, making his way carefully to the marked exits from the building's layout map. It turned out there were a pair of large loading doors and a small normal door near them that was the only way into the building. The loaded doors seemed to be rusted in place, so he doubted that anybody could get in that way. The regular door had a movable metal bar that could be lowered into place across the width of the door so it extended over both sides of the door place. Once he dropped the bar in place, he made his way back to where Leah waited.

"Alright, I guess we can get started now. So how do we do this?"

John stood there for a moment before he took his clothes off, laying them beside the power armor. He took a deep breathe for a moment before turning to face her.
