The waiting room was like all waiting rooms. The furniture was a compromise between expensive and durable. Prints on the walls that one would have trouble describing twenty minutes after leaving. It was clean, functional, and utterly boring. Much like the earnest young man who's job apparently involved bringing people here and asking them to have a seat while someone somewhere in a much more comfortable chair prepared to sit in judgement over you. To decide if you were worthy of a job with the fastest growing companies in the country.

For all that, the earnest young man must have had a light day today. There was only one other person in the room. A woman, edging up on her thirties. She was short and slender, with small, fashionable glasses and dark hair that barely reached past her ears. She was wearing a prim little business suit and reading intently from her phone, occasionally mouthing words as if rehearsing.

As the door clicked quietly closed, the small woman looked up and offered a brief smile before returning to her preparations.
