Welcome To Kyoto!
It is the nineteenth centry in Japan.Around 1860's,an British sailor stright out of Calcutta,India lead his ships into a small harbor.For the most part,Japan said isolated from the rest of the world.Getting one dutch trading ship once a year in Nagasaki and one or two Chinese trade ships a month,the Japanese were still pretty fuedral.The British captain landed in a dock in Toyko and met with the Shogan.
During the ninteenth centry and 300 years before,the Tokugawa shoganate existed in reign over the country.A shoganate ment that there was the fuedral system of Bushido,Samurai and the class system that made up most of Japan.There were the Samurai who were a lot like English knights,who were the main nobility.They belonged to a Family,the family belonged to a Clan and a clan belonged to the Shogan.During the 19th centry,when the Japanese heard of the American Revolution,three highly polictical active men in Japan decided that they would try to take the Shoganate down.This was known as the Meiji Revolution.
Now,when the British commander demanded trade rights with Japan,the Shogan refused to let the British trade with them.That angered the Commander and he told his ships to fire all cannons at Edo(which is now known as Toyko).Leveling many sections,the Commander held no remorse for the destruction and the next day when he left,the people began to rebel.Under the leadership of the three Revolutionaries,people off all classes(mostly peasants and merchants) began to rebel against the Shoganate because they felt the Shogan didn't have enough power,the destruction of Edo was a major loss in face.
Getting a ahold of guns,the Imperalists as the rebels called themselves wanted to restore power to the Emporer and to have a free and equal way of living.Fires spread across all of Japan as a massive revolution took place.Murder was common place in the revolution,where people were killed right in broad day light and fighting went on for at least 9 years.During the last years of the revolution as the imperalists began to get more and more momentum,they stormed Kyoto.Kyoto was the capital of Japan during this time and in Kyoto was some of the bloodiest and brutal combat.People were found dead on the streets,people murdered in day light and nights were restless and filled with screams of those people dying.Dying for either the Shoganate or the Imperalists,each man gave his life and sword to the blood shed.
Out of this chaos comes famous warriors such as Hajime Saitou and the Shinsengumi.The four hitkori(or manslayers) and other renowned swordsmen.This is where the writers come into place.It is the 2 to last year of battle,when the climax of the war is taken place in Kyoto,where things are hellish and every street is a miniture warzone.The writers will each play a character of choice in this conflict,weither a combatant in this revolution or someone just trying to survive.All sorts of writers are welcome and most types of characters are welcome.The thread is realistic,so no flying or anything weird like that and if anyone was wondering,woman were allowed to fight to,so it wasn't just like all men.
