I am totally weirded out by alts. I am. Not sayin' that's a matter of rightness or wrongness, just that it feels creepy to me. I think its the idea that its a "big pail of cold water" reminder this is all (seemingly) anonymous postings by anonymous people.

It's business, Joe. In some cases, anyway. I would think you, of all people, would understand the marketing aspect of a pen name alt.

Exactly that.

Never been (or had) an alt before. This is just about the writing - which is why I'm being up-front about it.

It's the internet. *shrug*

Personally, I love alts. Some days, I don't know whether I want to be Scarlett or Amicus. *sigh*

:D@scarlett.

Apparently there are loads of alts on the GB...i don't have a clue, it goes right over my head. I can see why people snap up their pen name (Victoria Blisse exsists but is largely unused) but posting as a different character, unless as a role play I guess, doesn't appeal to me at all.

Actually, Joe? I hear you. However, Imp is correct in saying that you of all people should know this.

It's not so bad when you have actually met people at a Literotica get-together.

Sure they can be weird, but they are known weirds, if you see what I mean.

I started my first alt as an experiment to write from a different perspective and came clean on April Fool's Day. Now Og and Jeanne refer to each other's work in their signatures. Fag-Ash Lil isn't an author. She's a character in one of Jeanne's stories.

Og (and jeanne_d_artois and Fag-Ash_Lil)

Leaving a cigarette for Lil.

Pelso often walked the few miles to where he worked. Not to save money. Not because he wanted to save the planet. Not even because he happened to pass by the most beautiful woman he had ever seen as he toiled up the slope of the last half mile while she almost skipped down it.

He walked to work, through the rain, through the sunshine, through snow and through snowstorms of falling blossom simply because he worked in an office, lived in three rooms of a large building and spent more hours than he should in front of one electronic device or another in his spare time.

He didn't give a hoot about the exercise, he cared not for the fresh air and the Monday morning hangovers still lingered through lunchtime as he read his books, ate his lunch and smoked his cig. He just enjoyed the walk.

CV! Just too excited to say much more than ... CV!:kiss::kiss:

Those of us who have already chosen a pen name have a pretty good reason to have an alt, even though this one rarely comes out to play. ;)
