Weird

Another story posted this a.m. (Friday) for the Romance category, but it does not show up under new stories in "Romance," just in the overall general "New Stories" category. Hmmm? Nearly 300 views so far and not a single vote either.

Maybe someone can take a look and tell me what I did wrong?

The title of the story is "Broken." It is only 5 Lit pages long.

Thanks!

As far as 300 views, no votes that is entirely possible. Its black Friday and its 5 pages. People might not have that much time right now and will read it later. Plus the view to vote ratio all in all here is rather disappointing.

It may not be showing up on the New Romance stories because it does not have a vote yet-that is just a guess I'm not sure- or maybe it has just not gotten there yet.

Nice title though I have a 8 book series published under that name.

I'm wondering if my "Dear Reader" might be an issue too. Trying to avoid the trolls, etc. this time, I put this at the front:

Dear Reader: This story was incredibly difficult to write, and I agonized over trying to decide just how much detail would be just enough, versus being too much and freaking people out. War isn't a pretty thing after all, and for many, or even most of those who do come home, they aren't coming home alone. They bring ghosts with them: the ghosts of what they have seen, what they have done or not done, and of whom they left behind. Sometimes, in a rare instance, the love of another person, given unconditionally, can be the catharsis needed to begin the true healing process and of making peace with all those ghosts. For all, veterans and non-veterans alike, this story may be too difficult to deal with, so the choice is yours as to whether you skip it and read something else, or venture forward and tread on hallowed ground.

Not sure yet if that was a good or bad move on my part.

Being the author you can do whatever you want.

My opinion is that you don't need that much of a warning, you're almost giving cliff notes of the story itself and not making it sound very appealing.

You could say Disclaimer: This story deals with the harsh realities of what its like to be a soldier returning home from war. If you like your romance on the lighter side this may not be the story for you."

Growing thick skin is the first thing a writer needs to do.

Jesus was crucified and I got my ass kicked for saving a life.

It's there now.

I read the first paragraph, but the Bruins are playing. I'll come back to it later. Too heavy to read during commercials.
