I don't know if this was ever talked about of if anyone else see this...but sometimes i will see a thread that has something like this in it..
“Thanks, but I think I’ll go up to Michelle's room, if that’s OK?”
Anyone know what thats all about?

Are you discussing the lack of periods in O.K.? Or, that it should be spelled out 'okay'? You are being very vague as to what the problem is.

Only thing I can come up with is that the quoted sentence isn't a question, so it should have a period at the end.

You'd have to rewrite it a little bit if you specifically wanted to have the character speaking be asking a question: "Thanks, but is it okay if I go up to Michelle's room?"

(I'm in the habit of using "okay" because it was in the style guide that way at a job I used to have -- and I think it looks a little bit more clear that way -- but "OK" or "O.K." is the original way of writing it.)

Omg it didnt show up....It's like a lot of wierd characters show up like *&%# or something like that instead of a " or something

Now that I look at it again, I do see what you mean -- the quotation mark after "OK?" is a curly quote. I guess the CHYOO software can't deal with curly quotes, so what you're seeing there is a "raw" formatting code; however, this board software seems to handle the curly quotes fine.

The usual cause for that is an author writing their thread in Microsoft Word, which will automatically make quotation marks into curly quotes, and then doing a straight cut-and-paste into the CHYOO editing window. Ways to avoid the problem include saving the thread in "text only" mode first, setting Word to not "fix" curly quotes, or doing what I do and not using Word in the first place. (I have a Mac and use the relatively bare-bones TextEdit program that came with it -- I think the PC equivalent is Notepad.)

If I recall I used Microsoft Word when I wrote a lot of my original threads for College Girl To Be... and when I copied and pasted them to Chyoo, it didn't accept the puncutation. Quotes appeared as a series of numbers for example :3826;;&5 something like that. Single quotes, commas and most other things didn't work either. If you look through my threads, I am sure you'll find one or two that have yet to be edited.
