Weird Science: Is Facebook good for you?

Using Facebook about once or twice a day to keep up with whatever your friends, family and other associates are up to that might be relevant to you is a conventient way to take care of today's often stressful social requirements.

Doing the same thing once or twice a minute, is not.

I have vowed never to get a Facebook or Twitter account. A study has shown that the piece of mind I get from not doing so will help me live longer.

FACEBOOK will die a natural death within 5 years. Its already Banal Land.

A study of 12 million Facebook users suggests that using Facebook is associated with living longer.

I, personally find faceboobs detrimental to my health as it causes me to get a severe case of eyerollitis for the most part.

NZ media would know. No, really.

Anything online I read and make a decision whether its anyone on lit, or any article I run into in the 40 or 50 countries that I see.

I can't prove it but I think Fuckerburg is activating the camera in my phone.

Suicides in middle-school-aged kids have doubled since 2007.

For what it's worth, "Everyone, share a pic of this loser" was barely a thing then.

I had hoped that Columbine would be the start of the end of school bullying. Maybe schools and society would make a more concerted effort to put a stop to it. They tried. Then comes along social media and now it increased 100 fold.

Thought at least the tough guys and mean girls would think twice that it might get them on some geeky nerds hit list.

Young people are nihilistic. The modern threat of the bullied kid taking them out with a gun oftentimes just makes them ramp up the abuse.

Shouldn't that be "threat of the geek taking them out with a gun"?

School shows us that human society is hierarchical.

I have a bridge I can sell you if you're in the market for one. It has a harbor view to die for and would make you the envy of your mates. :D

In the study, Hobbs and his colleagues used a computer program match the name and birthdate on the Facebook profiles of 12 million people living in California. An algorithm tallied up how many times, over a six-month period, people engaged with others online. Then, the researchers determined whether the participants were still alive, or had died by the end of the study period. They took into account the participants' age, gender and other factors that could influence their likelihood of dying during the study period.

It's quite interesting but I'm not a believer. It would make a great facebook advertisement.

"Facebook is here for you. We care for you and we can possibly, maybe extend your longevity."

Live Long And Facebook.

I love Facebook. It keeps me from having to actually talk to my family.

I had a Facebook friend from here but then I came to my senses.
