That cat thread got me thinking the other day about what else you guys might have out there. I know some people are into uncommon or exotic animals so does anyone have any? I like to keep fish and the one animal I have that people consider weird even though I think it's cute and interesting is a mudskipper. yep, just like on Ren and Stimpy. Another one of my friends has a snake which is pretty but I don't like snakes all that much. Yet another friend had a tarantula at one time. So, whatcha all got?

I have a Cat. His name is China Cat Sunflower. (Dead head thing)
I have 2 Iguanas, Leia and Rex

I have an albino ball python named Rico

A beta fish named Dummy (My sister's idea)

I have a pet walk named Rastapopolus Rawgenski.

Whats a walk you ask? Just a fly with his wings torn off so he can not get away.

I only have cats but they are all weird.
They're China (Great minds think alike huh angel ;)) Who swear to god huntil recently was bulemic
Tela who we lovingly call the kramer kitty just cause she always makes krameresque entrances.
And MANGO! who is the only cat i've ever had or know who loves to play in water.

Hmm.. pets. I have two dogs, Penny and Lizzie ( a chow and beagle, respectively) Five cats: Savannah, Smokey, Marmalade, Otis and Zoe. Three horses: Diamond, AcesWild, and Duke. And a mountain lion kit named Xibalba.

*grins* Dang.. it always seems like more when it comes to feeding time... *w*

The spoilsport...

I only have two psycho cats. The weirdest pet I think people keep in Australia is bush cockroaches. These things are the monsters of the roach world - they can be over five inches long. Erk.

Here in Oz there are considerable restrictions on keeping pets. You can be fined for having pet rabbits, kangaroos, snakes, pigs etc. even though people defy the laws. There are very good reasons for this. Some animals are REALLY not meant for donesticity. Snakes can give menengitis to small children. Male iguanas can attack menstruating women when they reach puberty. Tarantulas flick tiny hairs into your eyes which eventually blind you. The pet shops usually don't provide any small print.

If I was allowed to by law I would have a pet pig. Pigs are excellent. Twice in my life I have had pet pigs - once when I was in another country where pigs are very valuable and used for barter. The other time, I was living on a property in the Australian outback and the mother of these three wild bush piglets had died. We fed them powdered milk using the fingers cut from kitchen gloves as teats. They had sharp little needle-like teeth which went straight through the latex and into my skin!! Pigs can be house-trained, taught to follow instructions and are very clean when not made to live in swill. They are extremely cute and loving. Unfortunately, I suspect, less sentimental people than me eventually turned my pets into bacon. Sob.

Perhaps the strangest case about pets I ever read was five years ago. Police in New York City went to investigate an eleventh floor apartment after neighbours complained. They found sixteen FULLY GROWN alligators splashing around in a series of bathtubs. Go figure.

I have my two guys Dreamer and Starshine... oh... you mean animal type?
Ummm.. a damn male cockatiel I am willing to give away right now.
A whole bunch of fish, a turtle... a frog....
and dust bunnies I have ignored so long they have names now. Thanks to Laurel.

About the male iguana... I had one for 10 years. It crawled all over me all the time, and never once attacked me, menstrating or not. Or any of my friends. Either your info is wrong or maybe he was gay. Could be, my luck.
Tarantula, had one too, but he didn't like me to play with him. Also had a pirahna, I miss him.
No, the last three are not meant to be pets. I only had them to rescue them from abusing owners.

Of course you are right. Not ALL male iguanas will try to mate with their female owners. In fact, the majority won't. There are however, some badly lacerated females out there who weren't give responsible information by pet stores in the first place. Your iguana was clearly non aggressive as they reach puberty somewhere around seven years. You were also obviously a good owner as most pet iguanas, due to neglect or ignorance, die before puberty which probably accounts for why there are fewer "incidents" that you would expect.

The reason I had him was due to neglect by his first caretaker.
Silly people, thinking they can domesticate any animal, just cause they want too.

That is how I got my iguanas. Their previous owners rarely fed them, and when I got them they were incredibly scrawny and not at all green. They wouldn't allow anyone to touch them, and would NOT eat. Leia was 4 at the time and Rex was 5. They'd been allowed to run freely through the house and were severely neglected. I will admit, I was a bad bad girl and I told the owners they were worthless and they gave them to me for free. I have had them for two years, and after quite a few lashings with the tail (OW)They are eating properly again, are very very green, and love to be handled. I HATE people who mistreat their pets. I can't count how many stray or abused animals I've housed over the years. I've had to raise animals I had no idea how to care for when I got them, but i learned quick. Now I can take care of almost anything LOL.

I'm a sucker for animals.

A little brown bat that lives in the attic vent.

A turtle the size of a silver dollar (had 3 two got crushed)

A snail with a 2 inch shell

20 fish (10 Zebras, 8 Neons and 2 Plecostomus)

and 2 kitty cats

Me too Julia

I am a fish man too, I have a 150 gallon tank:

25-30 African Cichlids

2 Cory Cats

2 Plecostamus

And 3 of the toughest, bravest feeder guppies known to man.

And I'd love a turtle too Julia, got a source?

And, does the bat count? If so, I got a flock of turkeys and a Red Tailed hawk that live close...

I bought them in a surf shop in Destin while on vacation last summer, they did not care for the 6 hour drive home to Georgia at all.

LOL yes the bat counts, it lives in the house and I have not run it off, mainly because it eats all the mosquitoes in my yard, which is great since we have a lake in the woods behind out house.

Any idea what kind of turtle it is? I hd two Red Eared Sliders till they out grew the tank, would love to replace them, but not too many places sell live turtles to the public, might even be illegal, depending on what state you're in.

And wow, it is 5.5 hours from my house to Destin.

The Older one is 1/2 Chihiahia full ATTITUDE, and the other is a belgiam Sheepdog who likes to bite buts..:D (Esp. Xanders) But any way the Shiloe, the Sheepdog likes to hurd every one and anything and the Missy, the Full ATTITUDE, would rather just sleep with anyone that will sleep.:D It is funny when they play, Shiloe alwas trys to hurd Missy, but Missy will be VERY VOCAL about it when she is playing. can get anoying at times.. but still fun to Instigater tho :D

That is what she is, a red eared slider. In my son's lake ecology class they learned that females have smaller snouts and the two that died had longer ones so we are assuming this one is a she.

Damn, I miss Flash and Dash.

LOL love the names :)

My two year old named ours, so it is called "Turtle". The boys had named theirs Squirtle and Blastoise after Pokemon.

I used to have some of the toughest Oscars known to man with 15 piranhas in a different tank ofcourse I miss them.

We started out with three turtles, but two of them got it on, and now we have six. Did you know box turtles go crazy for kiwi? It's amazing. The bigger ones live in the yard so they can eat up all the snails and hibernate when they want to. The little ones live in the garage, cause they might get eaten by the bigger ones. (It happened, not all the babies made it.)

We also have two adopted greyhounds, which are the best dogs in the world that will ever steal your place on the couch.

i have 2 cats:
Frankie (named after Frank Sinatra... ol' Blue Eyes) we also call him Frankie Side Track because he has the attention span of a gnat. he also chases things that aren't there.
my other cat's name is stupid (don't shoot me....she seems to like the name and she is Definatly the opposit of it)

is a comp a pet? http://www.geocities.com/ruinkai/sm_hi769.gifi have 3...
