Inspired by the watermelon thread...

I love talking about food!

I just discovered chocolate and smoked chorizo on sliced baguette (with Spanish saffron and flaked sea salt) and it is to die for! Best with about a 60 percent dark chocolate.

Peanut Butter and dill pickle sandwiches. I was introduced to them when i did farm work as a teen. They were the perfect lunch. It had protein and the juiciness of the pickle really hit the spot. Every once in a while now I get a craving for one.

I love smoked oysters. It's not a strange food combination, but not many people like smoked oysters. That's OK, because that leaves more for me. ;)

sardines and cream chesse smashed up on toasted frozen lenders bagels.

Spaghetti with a little butter and a little ketchup. Don't ask.

The chicken foot dim sum item.

Smelt are my latest obsession - fried, grilled, any which way.

Going past this Portuguese bar in TO, everyone was out in the alley gathered around a little grill cooking silvery sardines. A whole tub of them was marinating in olive oil. I wanted to be a drunk Portguese soccer fan at that moment.

Mmmmmmmm, me too. Lovely.

What is guyanese pickled mango like? I take it this has no resemblence to the earthy "mango pickle" of Indian restaurants?

Sandwiches made with very mature cheddar and vey hot Indian chilli pickle, on granary bread with unsalted butter on it.

These are mostly things I -used- to eat but can't anymore due to trying to get rid of the last few pounds of baby weight. :(

Peanut butter and honey sandwich on toasted wheat with extra-crispy bacon.

Whipped cream cheese spread on potato chips.

Has anybody tried putting salt on watermelon? It's pretty good stuff. :)

Oyster casserole. I don't know what's so strange about it, but there are only two of us in my family that think it's good. I'm one and unfortunately, the other is my aunt, by marriage. Everybody thinks it's yucky and I just don't understand it. It's great!

Well, when we all get together on Christmas day, she always makes a casserole of it for just the two of us. She's not getting any younger and I've been in a bit of a panic because Christmas dinner isn't going to be the same after she's gone. Is this being shallow of me?

mmmm - honey and cornflake sandwiches! Dunno why made one when I was about 4 and loved 'em ever since.

Sort of, especially when you could easily ask her for the recipe and make it yourself. :D:D:D

I've got an incredible fishmonger only a couple of blocks away. It's the biggest and freshest looking selection of seafood I've ever seen, QUeens prices too. I'm always looking at these fish and kicking myself for not knowing what to do with them.

I could point you to a few youtube videos that have great fish tutorials.

I love those things. They are hard to come by around here. A coworker had butchered chickens last weekend and I missed my opportunity to get the feet and make some at home - next time!

Off topic warning/

Maybe it's my Dyslexia talking, but every time I see your name, I think about Zangamarsh. >_< God, I miss WoW. :(

/off-topic . . .

Zarn Gash was a character I created to play on a BDSM server of Neverwinter Nights.

My youngest son loves peanutbutter and lettuce sandwiches, and he will add salami to them as well.

The boy is weird.

Salami's kind of like not-spicy pepperoni, right? I don't think I've ever had it before.

What? Me cook? My two favorite friends are the electric skillet and the microwave. Bake is not in my repertoire.:eek:
