So has anybody ever lost weight? What was your secret to success? Did anyone ever try having a weightloss buddy? I told myself if I lost 30lbs this summer I'd cut my hair and dye it a new colour....Only problem is it isn't working so far (but ice cream is sooo good)...I've only got 2 months left before school starts again in September and I really want to wow my friends with my new look and also hopefully have enough energy to cram the night before my exams instead being too tired to make it through my classes on 9 hours of sleep....So if anyone can help me...preferably before I hit 100 posts so I can put a really good nude up for my AV...I'd be ever so grateful.....

The way I lost it was I got pregnant, but I wouldn't suggest going about it that way.

I do know that when I hit the gym, (yes, it is work), that I can eat what I like, but I can loose weight at the same time. It works.

Simple. Calculate out how many calories your body uses every day (I did it on the net. Use Google) Then eat LESS calories than that and move more.

While it may be true that I've always been considered scrawny and sickly. But.. I went off to school and had to have my suit pants let out... For the first time in my life my waist was longer than my inseam. So I'm doing this and lost 8 pounds in a little over a week. Skipping breakfast helps.

I've lost 35 pounds on weight watchers. The secret? There really isn't one.

Eat more fruit and veggies. Watch portion sizes...people generally eat WAY more food than what their bodies need and get out and MOVE, MOVE, MOVE, MOVE!!!

The absolute best, and safest way to lose weight is to work it off and eat healthy (or at least semi-healthy.)

Try 20 minutes of good cardio exercise a day, if you haven't exercised in a long time, start with a 20 minute walk and wrk your way up from there. As you get healthier, increase the difficulty of the work out. 20 minutes of cardio a day will work off a lot of fat, and you don't need to use wierdo diets. Plus, it becomes habit forming, and since you're not really denying yourself anything, the weight should stay off.

If you haven't gotten any regular exercise in a long time, it's a good idea to check with a doctor before you start exercising again.

side note, unsolicited advice:

If coloring your hair would make you feel better about yourself...then do it NOW! Don't wait to lose weight to make changes that make you feel better.

Watch your portion size. Skipping meals can actually work the opposite because your metabolism slows down and then stores whatever you consume.

Cut back on carbs and sugars. Don't get caught in the Low Fat trap. A lot of those foods are high in carbs and sugar. I lost 30+ lbs by cutting my portions considerably and limiting my carbohydrate intake. It sucks at times because I love bread, rice, pasta, potato chips but I've managed to keep it off for two years.

Remember it's not a diet but a lifestyle change. I have a diabetic Father and was able to get a lot of info from him. I'm not really sure where to find it but you should probably read about anything you're considering first.

It's not a matter I suppose of not knowing how to lose weight...I've read tons of articles, I've studied food facts, read health magazines but knowing how and actually applying it are 2 verrrrrry different things. At one point I managed to eat less and healthier and exercise everyday, then I stopped. I can't seem to get back on there.....The way I lost weight before was I got braces and since my teeth hurt so badly I couldn't really eat anything so I lost weight and then I felt so much better about myself that it was easy just to start doing that stuff because I already saw the results.....When I work out every day for 2 weeks and only feel more tired and wanting fatty foods even more than I did when I started it's discouraging....And of course I break out in a rash when I sweat on a regular basis (seriously)...I hate eczema! The eczema doesn't help my will power much since even when I keep it semi-undercontrol with my prescription cream sweating still burns my skin and makes it worse....It's frustrating....This hot summer is just making it even more of pain than usual (the eczema)!

Did I also mention when I cool down for aerobic activity I start sneezing uncontrollably for some reason? I swear, I'm allergic to exercise!

Although it won't help your cardiovascular fitness as much, lifting weights to increase your lean muscle mass will make you burn more calories even at rest. And even fidgeting around instead of sitting perfectly still can burn quite a bit more calories over the course of a month for sedentary individuals. I can't remember the exact number they came up with in a study, but it was a few pounds of difference.

Try swimming. Just make sure you stay in the water until you stop sweating. The water would probably help with the eczema/sweat thing. Maybe...

I'm not a doctor I just pretend to be one online!

I find I tend to eat when I'm bored. I get bored a lot. When I'm busy at work I can sometimes go all day without lunch, but then I start to feel bad when my blood-sugar drops too low (side-effect of not eating a ton of carbs)

Let me put it this way: water (or water-like substances) = evil for my skin....I had to use special body washes when I was a kid because I couldn't actually bathe in water....What can I say, I'm weird. That and I 've never understood how people can get so busy that they forget to eat. Does that really happen? It's shocking to me!

I appreciate everybody's advice......I really do....It's just this is stuff I already know and have usually tried for a day or two....or even a couple of weeks.....i guess what I'm really looking for is what people did to overcome these obstacles.....Please, I just bought a step, I own ankle weights, 5 and 7lb free weights and I try to do Pilates as often as I can and I've switched to whole wheat pasta and bread...and I'm waiting until the 2kg bag of white rice my parents bought is done before I start eating brown rice.....I only drink skim milk and use fat-free sour cream and low fat margarine (non-hydrogenated of course) and try for low-fat cheese.

I don't forget to eat, but when they fill my schedule with appointments all day, and everyone shows up on time, I don't always get the opportunity to eat. Usually end up eating my sandwich in the car on the drive home.

Allergic to water--that has to suck really bad. Too bad sex is sweaty.

Eat 5-6 small meals a day. Don't avoid fat altogether, eat mono- and polyunsaturated fats with high density lipoproteins like olive oil and nuts. Try to eat something relatively balanced (significant amounts of carbohydrates, protein, and fat) every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. This is healthy, and since you're not going hungry it'll help you stick to it.

Most people find that exercise feels good when they actually try it. With your difficulties, it'll be harder to stay motivated, but try to work within parameters that you find sustainable--like I said, lifting weights won't make you sweat as much as a killer aerobics session, but it provides good fat reduction benefits.

Thats easy, have a lot of sex and instead of him doing any work, "squat" over him and use your legs to do the work, im serious, this works well.

i would but since he is always busy because of work i been debating on not having sex it always seems so rushed. and he doesnt seem all there, leaves me kinda empty .thanks for the info anyway

Hey, Innocent angel! I saw somebody that looked just like you at a Hot Topics here in Maryland. Surprised me a lot... I was about to ask her when I remembered the location in your tagline, and decided not to. Do you have any relatives down here?

Eat 5 or 6 small meals through out the day, every 2-3 hours.
Exercise, get out and do something. Free weights are an awesome way to burn fat. The more muscle you have the more fat that you burn.

Eat clean healthy foods. Try to stay away from anything with high carbs late at night, before bed.

Good luck.:)

wow i guess i have clones that hang out in hot topic like me, but i dont have any relatives there.

Oh....I forgot to respond to this...geez I'm in a talkative mood tonight.....Colouring and cutting my hair wouldn't be to make myself feel better, I just get bored with my hair and want to do something new with it every few months......I was using this as a personal incentive....In other words, I'm trying to bribe myself. I keep hoping I'll just want to change my hair so desperately that I'll force myself to do it.....unfortunately, that's not working so far. I'll probably end up doing it either way. I'm just waiting until the fall so I head back to school feeling renewed and refreshed and ready to study like crazy!
