To those who contributed stories - my sincerest thanks but, for various reasons (don't worry, I;m still getting married) I am not going through with the site so please accept you stories back - all rights revert back to you. I look forward to seeing how they do on Lit.

Thank you all. It meant so much that you all jumped in to help me - especially Marshalien who not only wrote a wonderful story (as you all did) but helped promote my concept to everyone!

I really can;t say how grateful I am and how much your help meant everyone. I'm just sorry I'm unable to follow the project through.

Did I tell you that your verbosity has rubbed off on me? The story that I started writing for the site has just passed the 20k mark - never even managed to get past 10k before!

Last time you called me "verbose," I suggested:

P.S. mils, instead of verbose, which suggests that some of our words are unnecessary (or prolix, which connotes that they inspire tedium, or logorrheic, which just sounds awful), what do you say we simply describe our work as verbally luxuriant?

I still think we should go with that.

And Marsh, good idea. I say we all do that. To do V proud they all need the red H - so vote early and often (only way it'll happen for me ).

This is the beginning of mine. I need to finish it.

The shade was a deep, rich vermilion. Not red. No, red didn’t describe the lush velvet of this dress nearly well enough. I stared at the woman in the mirror. The exquisite cut of the dress hugged her curves beautifully, without being too tight, too sluttish. The bodice pushed her breasts up to form delicious creamy mounds that were sexy without revealing too much. The sleeves were long and fitted, and the neckline was wide, almost dropping off her shoulders, but not quite. The woman in the mirror was me, and I didn’t think I had ever looked better than I did at that moment wearing that amazing dress.

“Mom?” My daughter’s voice came from behind the dressing room curtain.

“I’m decent,” I replied.

She flung back the curtain and exclaimed, “Oh my God!” I watched her reflection in the mirror as a wide smile lit up her face. “This is the one!”

I couldn’t help smiling back as my darling girl admired me. “But it’s red, Erin.”

“It’s perfect, Mom. Seriously. You look beautiful. It goes with our theme, and the neckline resembles the bridesmaids’ dresses. The color. Everything. It’s awesome!”

“What do you think Pat will say?” I raised my eyebrows. Pat was the future mother-in-law.

Erin snickered. Then, with a more serious mien, she studied me, looked me up and down pointedly, and then bellowed, “Well, Laura, you look nice! That dress is very…young.”

We both giggled. Then Erin said, “You have to get it, Mom. This is the best one by far.”

It was true. I’d been searching for months, and the wedding was only a few weeks away.

I examined myself again in the mirror. “I do love it, but I don’t know. It’s red. I wouldn’t want to overshadow the bride.” I winked at Erin’s reflection.

“Oh, as if,” she quipped and rolled her eyes.
