A dear friend of mine is planning her big day these days to be realized next summer. I am actively involved in the organization process and trying to help out with wedding music suggestions :) but running out of ideas.

Do you have any suggestions for romantic, instrumental pieces that might fit different parts of the ceremony? Especially a piece for the "walking in of the bridesmaids and the bride" that is not the traditional wedding march?

So far tracks from Titanic and one from Pearl Harbor are the type that have struck her fancy.

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome, thank you for your time and ideas. :rose:

Just about anything can be found in an instrumental version. Music that speaks to your friend and her fiance (yes the groom should get some say too) are the best choices. Did you think of asking him what he thought?

That's a very valid idea I think, thank you. :) :rose:

Those two have a routine of their own in this regard.

She has a blast organizing and figuring out the details and he lets her have the fun while busy with school and work. She usually comes up with different versions of every detail she likes - invitations, poem to go along, the text, setting, decoration and so forth - and present them to him and then they pick what they like best of those together. At least that has been the policy so far and miraculously enough they are in sync. :)

I am only looking for suitable pieces of music that I can present to her for consideration ... sort of making suggestions for the pre-selection if that makes sense.

But... But... But, how will the guests know when to quit gossiping and turnto watch the bride enter with Medelsohn's (sp) Wedding March?

Seriously though there are many, many pieces around tthat were specifically composed as "processionals" that would cue the audience that the muzak is over and the wedding is about to begin -- Darth Vader's entrance theme from the first Star Wars movie, for example. :p

LOL that is pretty funny ... though I doubt the bride would be amused if someone hid her beauty behind a mask and a helmet from WW II. :D

It would be a bit more blatant thana traditional bridal veil, wouldn't it. :p

Seriously, John Williams scores for Star Wars and other movies almost always include some sort of "grand entrance march" -- as do most movie scores, JW's are usually just more memorable.

so here's a site with tons of suggestions where you can preview the songs. might give you some ideas. Celine makes the cut but i don't see "There You'll Be" from Pearl Harbor. Well different strokes for different folks. good luck. hope it helps

Thank you for the suggestions and also for the link. :rose:

I have checked out a similar page - albeit less extensive I believe - with the bride a few days ago but I will definitely recommend her to have a look. :)

As for the songs already picked:

Hymn To The Sea - Titanic OST

And Then I Kissed Him - Pearl Harbour OST

Also, the ceremony is not going to be held in front of an English speaking audience, so they are primarly looking for instrumental pieces.

If anything else comes to mind along those lines please feel free to share it. Thank you. :)

My fiancee would LOVE it if we played the Star Wars sound-track at our wedding... and a mixture of Ludacris and 50 Cent during the reception.

Enya - Watermark .....from her Watermark album

...and from the Pearl Harbor soundtrack..."Brothers"

The whole soundtrack is just a tad bit nerdy, but wasn't there an actual wedding scene in one of the prequels -- an Imperial Wedding. The music (or just the processional) from that scene might be an acceptable compromise with a hard-core Star Wars fan.

Or the music from the wedding scene in Princess Bride -- it doen't have to be science fiction or fantasy, there are a LOT of movie weddings with custom-written wedding music.

As father of the bride, I chose "Little Miss Magic" by Jimmy Buffett for the first song of our dance.

Thank you for all the great suggestions. :) I have forwarded them to the engaged couple and their choices are now finalized.

They asked me to forward their thanks to you as well. :rose:

Vangelis, Enya, Titanic, Pearl Harbor, Moulin Rouge and Mozart made the race. The latter twice even. :)

There is alot of classical music done with strings only that is very good for the attendants, we used it at a family wedding it was beautiful

how about something like Pachabel Cannon?

Please not.

I photograph weddings for a living. Do you know how many people use Pachabel's Canon?

Everyone thinks they're being super creative by choosing it over the Wedding March. They're not. Really. Not.

perhaps you could have an instrumental "music of the night" or "think of me'' from phantom of the opera.

For first dance I highly recommend this version of a well known song, i suggest watching at least up to the 1:05 mark......its a very good version of the song
