As this is the place where I go to get a lot of my answers, I thought I'd try this question on you:

Does anyone know of a decent free webhost? I'd like to put up a decent sized (num of pages, rather than files size) website without having banner ads, pop-ups, pop-unders or (more importantly) having to pay. Speed would need to be competitive as well.

I realise the adage of 'you get what you pay for' does apply, but has anyone any suggestions?

Good question.

I was looking for the same...

Or would have been had it not been for posting on the AH and watching football... and drinking... and playing pool...

I like www.freewebz.com seemed to hold the largest amount of space with the fewest little anoyances. :)

I was using them, but they only allow you to have 50 files up at a time. Hence why I was looking to switch. I've just upgraded my package with them to allow me to upload multiple files and have more than 50 files for £6.50 for 6 months, which isn't terrible.

I had that problem when I was trying to put up diferent pics. But I found that if I used another site to store the pics then I didn't have to use as many files with freewebz. Freed up a lot of space, all I had to store there was each page, which was only one file. Don't know if that would help you any, but there it is.
