Weapons of Mass Destruction

For me, it's a lot like having a loved one in surgery....I'm deeply concerned about all that can go wrong, whether it will be a complete or partial success, whether there will be any lasting side effects, etc. There's nothing to do but pray. The rest of the time we hope, or worry, or look for information that makes us feel better about the unknown( information about procedures & past successes, progress reports, etc.)

I pay attention because I have a preoccupation that won't let me forget, or allow me to focus on anything else for long.

If you have a loved one there, then I hope you hear nothing but good news.

Blah blah blah.

Wah wah wah.

It's all classic bait n switch marketing, dummies.

WMD was the bait...the switcheroo is.... it's all about global hegemony! Everybody wants to rule the world...

The easiest way to get an opinion poll to back you in the USA is to make the 275 million lemmings afraid and uncertain with a really big lie.

For all the yankee talk about how Iraqis are ignorant and need liberating from their lying evil warmonger leader....the fact is that american citizens obviously are completely ignorant and need liberation from their lying evil warmonger leader.

See?

Most of you simply don't see it because you've been brainwashed your whole lives by the star mangled spanner and the jose can you see pledge of alliegence mind control nonsense.

That is an EXCELLENT analogy!

That's the beauty of America dude. We can voice our opinion. If that is what this war is about, the American way - the right to be heard, the right to be free and defending that freedom, then let everyone be heard.

Dude! pssst-he's not an American so that rah rah speech, while correct, doesn't really apply well to him.

What do you all think would happen if time goes by and they don't find any? Do you think the US/coalition would be above planting some to save face?

And has anyone else noticed how the coalition leaders are having a hard time staying on message? At first they said the primary mission was disarm iraq, and then they said the primary mission was to remove Saddam regardless of disarmament, and just today they said the primary mission was regime change regardless of Saddam's status.

Hmmmm, I didn't realize that what we believe in, only applies to those who are in our club.

There is a handful of people that will cry any items found are planted anyways, hopefully you are not amongst that group. I haven't noticed any change in the message, it's to disarm Iraq and the only method to do that is to force a regime change.

Hey that's strange? Or is it. We were talking about that in the pub the other day: that the American people are to a large extent brainwashed into extreme patriotism by all that allegience to the flag stuff they have to do throughout their school years and at every opportunity thereafter...

:D

No one can answer this until it happens (or doesn't happen), but don't be surprised when they do "find" some. The question should then be "did we put them there?".

I doubt no one would ever know the answer to this.

Funny how pp_man and his blokes are experts on America and the people. That's pretty funny.

They're a bit like Jehovah's Witnesses that way...nice enough and all, but there's that aura of wierdness around certain things.

The way americans get about their various God Bless America chants is scarier than any of that stuff you see various middle eastern brown skinned people doing on the news....those people are pissed off because their homes are being bombed...most often, by chanting Americans.

Lance on the other hand has real first hand knowledge of our people, living under the umbrella of our security for the past 100 years.

If Oscar Wilde were alive today, I'd fuck him up the ass! Since he isn't, p_p_man will do.:D

The label on the outside of glass encased Lance Device:

Only break in case of extreme emergency. Use personal insult and cultural antagonism when all else fails.

Lance, tell me, just what the hell is wrong with God Bless America? So now it's evil to support your country. How un-American it must be to support your country. You know, we aren't talking about the olympics here, Lance. We are talking about lives.

LOL - I see your still in fine form Lance. Of course you're right. The very first time I repeated the pledge of allegiance I felt my eyes glaze over and fell into a patriotic trance.

Keep up the entertainment! It's really funny stuff!

Like I said, you're nice neighbors and all...sure it's a little off-putting that you insist on cutting our grass all the time and describe us as "Your little buddy nanook"...but overall, you're okay.

A little fucked up with the whole Captain Kirk galaxy quest crap...but hey, it could be worse.

I'm not a conspiracy theory hack or anything. I'm sure that Iraq has them. I'm just saying that if we can't find it for some reason we would not be above planting some to save face. So we will "find" some one way or the other. If we don't then we've lost something a LOT bigger than just the war. So it's inevitable that we will find some, even if we have to put it there ourselves.

Or they have them like we have said all along. If your argument is that even if we find them, it means we planted them, then your mind is already made up and you will simply believe the worst about our government rather than base your opinions on what happens.

Was Saddam training terrorists? Was he arming them? Did we do it for the oil? There are so many questions we'll never know the answers to. The short and long of it is that we voted Bush into office. We voted him in with an implied trust. Until he proves otherwise, we have to believe that he is doing is in the best interest of our country. Let's just hope it's in the best interest of the world as well.

You raise good questions. Alot of credibility has been staked upon the finding of these weapons. Like I said, even if they are found there are going to be so many people that will believe they are planted anyways, what can you do...?

With the inevitable risk of getting caught-out like those crappy forged documents that were supposed to prove links between Nigeria and a trade with Iraq in uranium. You'd hope that whoever does the "planting" is more competent.

Well, you didn't entirely vote in Bush --- it was the Supreme Court's decision as to the validity of the deciding few thousand votes in Florida.
