(Before I begin the story, the main character in this is an obvious knock off of wolverine from X-men. But the story is set in a normal world...no mutants, no x-men, none of that. Our main character is simply a military experiment no more no less.)
He ran as hard as he could. His bare feet getting cut up on the rocks and sticks of the forest floor, but he didn't even notice it. Wet leaves and branches slapped his face and he plowed through it. The pain that pumped through his boyd in a blinding agony was a mere annoyence. All he knew was he had to get away.
From what? Who?
He couldn't remember. He couldn't recall anything before he was running in this jungle. Try as he might his only memory was running, so he kept going. Even as he was cut and battered by limbs and thorny underbrush. He kept going.
Finally he came to a clearing. And he stopped dead. Not a clearing. A town.
He had reached a subburban town of some kind. Cleared of the trees he could see the moon. It was late at night, maybe one or two am. Maybe more. He didn't know how he knew that, he didn't know anything. His body felt like it was on fire and his hands.....oh, how his hands hurt.
He needed a place to rest so he ambled down the hillside and leaped over the nearest fence into Kelly Price's backyard. He didn't know her name t the time but it turned out to be her backyard. He could see light from a TV probably left on as the veiw passed out in front of it, coming from a window facing the yard. To be safe he kept low and crept toward the house. He just needed something to wrap himself in. He was naked, now he realized as the cool night breeze made him shiver. He peered into the garbage bags hoping to find them empty so he could wrap himself in it.
Something hit his neck and he staggered. His vision swirled and he staggered back, his heavy body thumping into the back door of the house. He blinked and tried to stand but slowly he fell into darkness.
From the edge of the jungle a man looked through bincoulars. "He's down. Go get hi....wait." HE hissed as a light in the house came on. "Damn it. Withdraw! We'll have to get him another time." Away the man went, dissappearing back into the woods.
