From The Political Grapevine, Fox News:
Drinking Games

Politicians in New South Wales, Australia could face breathalyzer tests before voting on legislation. The proposal follows several incidents involving alcohol.

One lawmaker resigned this week after shoving a female colleague following a Christmas party. And a police minister was removed in September for allegedly performing a striptease after an office party.

Australia Green Party Member John Kaye was quoted in the Daily Telegraph saying, "If you are going to have breathalyzers for people driving cranes, you should have breathalyzers for people writing laws."

Based on what we have all seen at all levels of Govt. this should be a requirement from City Hall to Capital Hill!

Even if we make it illegal to pass laws drunk, it's still legal to pass laws stupid.

A "police minister" - wtf is that?

Good question. Where is Starr when we need an expert? :D
I suspect it's like a Police Commisioner her or maybe a Chief?
The Police Minister is a completely different animal to the Commissioner. The Commissioner is an appointed position, at the top of the hierarchy for the day to day running on the NSW Police Force.
The Minister is a politician, an elected representative who is appointed by the Premier to oversee the police force. His mian task seems to be to come up with excuses for why the police force is underfunded and undermanned and to explain why speeding fines are not purely revenue raising exercises.

As a resident of NSW I would like to make it mandatory that our State politicians should be drunk at all times, it might improve them. As it is many of them are corrupt and most are incompetent.:)
