We Love You, Karen Kraft , but ...

I take issue with chapter 3 2nd paragraph stanza 2

apart from that I agree

Very thoughtful post, Kevin. Perhaps more people could take that advice to heart. :)

I agree, except for the part about actually reading what other people have to say. That's pretty much a waste of time.

Kevin must be one hell of an attorney

If that post is evidence of his courtroom presentations.

Plans changed here.

Yup!

But I'll bet KK won't listen to a word of it because she knows better, of course.

A very well written post...
Karen is extremely intelligent in my opinion... In 40 years ( 58, the median age of judges :) ) her wisdom, open-mindedness, coupled with the probable maturity, will be an asset in the year 2030...

it was a pile.

not because t was wrong, but because there is NO WAY this dude's an attorney. first, for someone with "constraits" on his time, he seems to have way too much time. second, while he was correct about writing and reading being the best course of action (law schools look for english majors) the reason is that minimalism is required in law. the trend is to make briefs more...well, brief.

in short, too long.

How has he way too much time on his hands?
He has 23 posts (if I remember correctly) over several month period of time.
Unless you were inferring how long his post is and that isn't a great indication to determine whether he's lying about being an attorney. Maybe he wrote it in several sections, not all in one sitting; perhaps he's merely a quick typist and fast thinker.

One of my closet friends is a super busy man, owns his own business, on several boards and volunteers time to charities and we'll not even go into the crazy social life he leads. But I've seen him take the time to write lengthy, well thought out remarks.

Gee Lance is a lawyer and we all see how often he's here.. *shrugs*

I don't know anything about the author of this thread, and barely anything about the subject, but I will comment on PA's post.

Law schools look for a variety of undergrad degrees, because the practice of law necessarily involves a variety of skills and backgrounds. Criminal defense, intellectual property litigation, mergers & acquisitions - all attract fundamentally different types of people to their practice. English majors cannot be molded to fit into every type of law. I wasn't an English major, or even a liberal arts major. Lavender wasn't an English major. In fact, I don't have a single friend from law school that was an English major.

Streamlined legal writing focuses more on stripping out the antiquated legalese and stilted anachronistic language, not on making writings shorter simply for the sake of brevity. Kevin's post was well written, easy to follow, and conversational in tone. That is exactly what good lawyers these days are striving for.

It doesn't really make any difference if he is an attorney, or not.

His post was well thought out. He addressed what he saw as problems, and offered constructive advice.

Considering everything he touched on, I think he succeeded at being brief.

I think everyone in this thread needs to get a room with Kevin.

Cept Emi of course.

She's stayin in my room......

Sounds like a fine idea to me. Only you would think spending time with an intelligent person is punishment.

Who the hell cares about your experiences?

"Just say no to drama", April.

KevinTheWiseOldAttorney's key point for Karen was that at 19 she was too young, to immature to even be considering a career in law.

My point is, he's wrong...maybe it took him until he was 32 to get in to some backwater state law school...but that doesn't make his experience universal or The Only Way.

Ageist smug fuckface, he is. What a cunt.

Must be one of your lot's latest fake ID's.

Are you on or off the wagon this weekend?

You ought to come with a emotional wellness barometer as your sigline.
