As I recall, Mr. Obama is on record from his short stint as the junior Senator from Illinois saying that he would always want to keep gasoline at at least $4 a gallon as a way to encourage people to conserve usage. Considering the effect energy costs, especially gasoline, have on the prices of everything, like food, one wonders if he ever considered the effect this energy policy would have on the poor, the very constituency he and his party are supposedly more concerned about than their traditional opponents, who favor policies that keep fuel prices low.
