Well, it'S been fewer days than expected for me to get internet access.

So I've moved to a new city.
First time away from home living on my own. First time doing the laundry.
First time havign to calculate the money for food and stuff.
First time not being able to visit my best buddy whenever I feel down or weary.
Second time starting studying at Uni.
First time making new friends.
First time sharing a house with other people.
First time in a big city other than a little town.

But so far it's all been good.
'course I'm still a little nervous and anxious.
But my house-mates are nice and friendly and cool.
I hope so will my co-eds be.

Now cross your fingers and toes so that I'll get along with my studies and that I'll find love.

*hugs* snoop! Oooh it's all exciting stuff! Great to see you round and about again!

Much luck with the coeds and the classes, Snoopy! And remember that ramen noodles are always cheap, easy, and filling. ;)

Congratulations Snoop!

You don't need luck! You're gonna do great!

Let me introduce you to your new best friend-- Romen Noodles:)

Speaking of Ramen Noodles- think of them as Stone Soup. If you've got 3 green beans, a bit of onion (or failing that, onion powder), and half a carrot hanging out in the fridge (or freezer) go ahead and toss it in:)

Some of the best meals I've made where fixed up from leftovers that were little more than scraps. I like to toss in a bit of ginger (especially if I'm not feeling well- it calms the stomach) after I drain most of the broth and then pan fry everything together. You can also flavor it with soy sauce, hot sauce, chilly powder, ect, ect. (Think logically about what flavorings would go best with what foods) Chicken nuggets are good to toss in- even the breaded kind (I'd suggest chopping them into small bits)

IF you don't fancy them up now and then, you will seriously get sick of seing and smelling them:) (You might anyway)

SpaB haben. Die erste Jahre ist die beste - verbinden immer, fahrt immer und sie nicht zuruckgehalten sind.

Was denken Sie uber leben in eine grosse Stadt?

Sie Gluck haben.

Have fun Snoop. The first year is the best - join everything, do everything and don't hold back.

How are you finding life in the big city?

Good luck.

Well, there's room for imporvement there, though I got the most of what you wanted to say. (And then there was your own translation)

Well, so far I like life in the big city. The good things are:
- everything is around the corner
- loads of shops, restaurants, bars, cool places, sights and sounds
- cool, handsome, interesting, varied poeple from all over the world

The bad things:
- no real friends yet
- everything is pretty expensive

Snoopy

Let me guess: 'verbinden immer' (join everything) and 'sie nicht zuruckgehalten sind' (don't hold back) were complete and utter word salad? They required a bit of dictionarying and I've never been great at piecing together dictionary phrases.

Big cities are a sod to live in cause of the expense. However, it does mean there are a lot of good people to get to know. My advice (from my first year) is to make two or three really good friends and as many acquaintances as you can. Never be shy about saying (as was my opening line to many in Fresher's week) "Hi, I'm xxxx. I'd going round randomly introducing myself to people. How're you guys doing?"

Yeah, 'join' CAN mean 'verbinden' but in this case it's 'beitreten' or 'mitmachen'.

Don't hold back is hard to translate literally. I'd say something like 'don't be shy' = 'sei nicht schüchtern' or don'T hold back' = 'halt Dich nicht zurück'.

But you did pretty good though.

I'll let you guys know how my first couple of college weeks will work out.

Snoopy,

Don’t join EVERYTHING!

For example, take a look at what a combination of having no life, a large supply of Ramen noodles, and Internet Access can lead you to, here

snoops...inestigate love, even in big cities there are cheap places to shop....find'em and you'll be sorted.

I'm great at cooking on a budget so if you want any suggestions just shout :)

I see possibilities here.

Congrats snoop. Enjoy yourself.

It's been thirty years since I lived in a small town. I can hardly remember what it's like.

*claps for Snoops*

If you get bored, or lonely, I can jump on a plane hon!

Good luck!
