There has been a little talk on MzC's thread about wax play. I was just wondering who else had thoughts about it.

I uncovered the following thread that was started along these lines... Candles, Wax, etc...

Ok now.....fill me in....this is a new one for me, and something Master has expressed a desire to try.

I'm tempted to purchase one of those parrifin wax machines, you know the kind you dip you hands in. Ok, I'll be quiet now, sit back and listen......Maybe I should gag myself....lol

Paraffin pot

I am not an expert, but know you don't need a paraffin pot. Sir has a crock pot He uses, that way he can ladle out the hot/warm paraffin for full body waxing....mmmm...

I've found a great site to help you out liquidfireinc.com. Go there they have great products :).

The thread Dixi linked to contains some great info about wax play.
One suggestion I would make to those who are interested in trying it out, you can try using warmed oils first in order to get a general idea of the feeling of hot wax on the skin.
What you can't approximate this way is the pleasures of removing the wax, especially if you are interested in using knives.

I love waxplay and often use it. My crockpot made the wax way too hot for my sub. The nice thing about parafin is you can reuse it and easier clean up but to start get any candle but beeswax (it burns to hot) and play. The higher you hold the candle above the victim the cooler the wax will be when it hits them. Wax that puddles will be hotter than drops. The last bit of advice I have is the wax will splatter everywhere so pick your location with that in mind. The next step is to whip it off.

Try it you'll like it.

I have some waxing pictures of myself but there is no way I am posting them lol.

Here is another good resource and the candles are excellent. BDSM Waxplay There are some instructions there under Erotic Waxing.

For the beginner I recommend a six pack of the votives. Each one is a different. Starting from white the coolest to blue or green being the hottest.

A tip... If the candles are on your body, don't laugh ;)

HMMMMMM

No laughing here, Dusty. MY-Sir and I have spoken about this in the past. Now I have a better idea of what it involves. Have sent HIM the website to see what HE thinks of it.
Thanx for the info. I hope to try this in October when I see HIM again.

We are another couple who are considering this ... sorta ... maybe ... perhaps.

Its a case of I'd like to ... but, ohhhhh errrrrrr ...

well, you know how it is.

I *LOVE* wax play. So, yeah, I have thoughts about it. ;)

I've posted on this at some length before, so rather than repeat just to experience the joy of "hearing" myself talk, here's a link-->
Caroline's fireplay thread

Do it! Play with wax, play with fire. Fire good. Wax good.
Sorry; I was slobbery with enthusiasm for a second there. :p

One more little side note I'd add to what I've said before, though: personally, I think I like religious candles the best, even though they don't burn hot enough to push my threshold limits. Passover candles and Catholic prayer votives just make me happy. They're parrafin, they burn clean, and it's a nice little subversive kick for me to use them. (Too much information!)

I also make candles to use for play. That's fun too--lots of anticipation, and I can make them to my own rather exacting specifications. ;)

[Feel free to PM me if you wanna talk about fire/wax stuff less publicly, too. Okay, lurkers?]

i LOVE wax play

my Dom and i just did this... he used red, white and blue candles, on my front and back, and kept calling me the "All American Girl"...lol
Wax play is great, and even the taking off is fun.. especially if a whip is used..... (can get quite messy, tho) after it's taken off, it itches a little...
just my 2cents worth!:)

Himself and I have been playing with wax and candles for some time now.

One suggestion.... invest in a plastic sheet.... it makes clean up so much easier. I got one and I just pull it off take it outside and shake it off, then throw it in the washer and dryer.

I think that a blindfold goes nicely with wax play...

i too have used the candles from the link Dusty gave and enjoyed the greatly. i suspect they are similar to the religious candles Risia mentioned as they are not that hot, more of a sensual thing. However, multiple rapid drips to, umm, certain areas does produce a little pain. Nothing you won't be able to handle - or not for me anyway - but enough to feel it. Regular white unscented candles that you can buy just about anywhere and are usually recommended in books burn much hotter than these if you are wanting to push it, but i really like the cooler ones. i guess it depends on my mood.

A couple of other things about the ones at the link: 1) The wax is much easier to remove than that of regular candles. and 2) They come in lots of pretty colors which are not ususally recommended because they burn hotter, but these are still cooler in every color i've tried, and i just got lots of colors in a variety pack i won at an auction, so i've tried several colors. i think he usually has some for auction on the fetish auctioneer, too. i know he used to, but i didn't check before posting this.

Wax play is just about the best thing there is! Blindfolded is good, but so is being able to watch, anticipate, wondering how much will be released, where it will fall. Hey, it's ALL good!

The paraffin wax is the best way to go for those first starting out. Although I can use just about any candle (except beeswax), I have to build up for it if the candle used is one of the hotter burning ones.

Hehe... the reason you don't laugh is that it causes wax to spill on you. Lots of it and it's a bit of a shock.

I think the best is to start off with dripping the wax from fairly high so that it can cool a bit and let the sub slowly work their way into their headspace. Then you can start drizzling and drawing from a bit lower until there is a pretty decent coating before attaching the candles.

If I was skinny I would post some waxing pictures. But I'm not showing of my fat stomach.

*grumbles*

i'd never take - or show pictures if i waited to be skinny! besides i don't like that annorexic look anyway...

my vote is...SHOW US!

Just wanted to add

Ok, i didn't read the whole thread you linked, but i don't think anyone has mentioned another aspect of the cold water/ice contrast. If you're blindfolded, and especially if you're in subspace, after awhile you can't tell the difference in the hot wax and the the ice or cold water. i was skeptical about this, but it really is true. This of course leads to you feeling controled and your Dom getting great satisfaction in the fact that he can control your mind in such a way.

Sorry if someone already said this and i missed it.

Honestly lasavane, I don't believe anyone mentioned the cold water/ice contrast quite that way. If I'm reading you correctly you are saying that the ice/cold water can be thought of as hot by the sub....is that right? Interesting. I do suppose its a matter of the mind playing a trick on the sub.

Thanks for all the great responses everyone.

Yes, or i guess it could go either way, that is thinking the wax was cold, but i feel the water as hot, i think. -lol i am probably confusing you more. Anyway, after a while you can't tell the difference in the ice and the wax because they are a similar difference in temperature from your normal temperature. It startles you, and both are sort of painful or stingy, and you can't tell the difference.

Hoping i was clearer this time and not more cryptic.

Ohhhh this is something that I just have to try.

I mean (quick backtrack here) this is something that I hope Master would like to try!

Do you think anyone noticed my little slip there?

I don't think anyone will notice your topping from the bottom

Don't worry WollowPuss, I have the same desires as you. LOL!! I even went as far as sending MY-Sir the web page provided by Dusty. Bless her heart.;)
So if we are topping from the bottom; We'll both be properly punished for it, I'm sure! Hahaha! :D

Don't you think its our duty as sub's to dig up information for our Masters or Mistresses? I mean I would never dream of telling him what to do, as I'm sure non of you other fine subs would either ;)

(Pssstt Willow.....I just can't wait to see if he really wants to try this. :D)

I think research assistant should be listed as one of a sub's main duties.
