Wat’s Carbon Water-N-Stuff Thread - Concepts In Iron And Wood!!!

I seem to have passed out a couple of resentments along the way.

I know, imagine my surprise.

Allah, please give me patience and tolerance. I fear that, if you give me strength, then you'll have to give me collateral for bail, too.

The Empty Boat

By: Chuang Tzu

If a man is crossing a river
And an empty boat collides with his own skiff,
Even though he be a bad-tempered man
He will not become very angry.
But if he sees a man in the boat,
He will shout at him to steer clear.
If the shout is not heard, he will shout again,
And yet again, and begin cursing.
And all because there is somebody in the boat.
Yet if the boat were empty.
He would not be shouting, and not angry.

If you can empty your own boat
Crossing the river of the world,
No one will oppose you,
No one will seek to harm you.

The straight tree is the first to be cut down,
The spring of clear water is the first to be drained dry.
If you wish to improve your wisdom
And shame the ignorant,
To cultivate your character
And outshine others;
A light will shine around you
As if you had swallowed the sun and the moon:
You will not avoid calamity.

A wise man has said:
“He who is content with himself
Has done a worthless work.
Achievement is the beginning of failure.
Fame is beginning of disgrace.”

Who can free himself from achievement
And from fame, descend and be lost
Amid the masses of men?
He will flow like Tao, unseen,
He will go about like Life itself
With no name and no home.
Simple is he, without distinction.
To all appearances he is a fool.
His steps leave no trace. He has no power.
He achieves nothing, has no reputation.
Since he judges no one
No one judges him.
Such is the perfect man:
His boat is empty.

Machine Gun – The Origin of the Term

The first time the term machine gun was used was by Richard Gatling, inventor of the Gatling gun. The term first appeared in his patent for the Gatling gun. The Gatling gun is a multi-barreled firearm that uses a hand crank to operate. It feeds from a top-loaded hopper-type magazine. The rate of fire was about 200 rounds a minute. It’s a fairly complicated design and relies on mechanical loading and firing; thus, it is called a machine gun. Two hundred rounds per minute is tame by today’s standards. In fact, in the modern era, the Gatling gun isn’t even a machine gun.

And so on . . . .

Every time a problem arises, the essential thing is to immediately become aware that the problem comes from our selfish mind, that it is created by self-cherishing thoughts. As long as you put the blame outside yourself, there can be no happiness.

~ Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Growth is a painful process.

~ Wilma Mankiller,

Wisdom is, and starts with, the humility to accept the fact that you don't have all the right answers, and the courage to learn to ask the right questions.

Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back into the same box.

~ Italian proverb

“The story begins on the ancient savannas of Africa where the hunger of life pours forth in the form of teeming, feeding herds. As the hungry hordes eat their way across the plain, lions wait in the tall grass nearby, anticipating their chance to prey upon the grazing animals. In preparation for their attack, the lions send the oldest and weakest members of the pride away from the rest of the hunting pack. Having lost much of their strength and most of their teeth, the roar of the old ones is far greater than their ability to bite, so they slip away and settle in the grass directly across from where the strong and hungry members of the pride wait for the grazing herds.

“As the herd enters the area between the hunting pack and the old lions, the old ones begin to roar with all their might. At the sound of the terrifying roars, most of the herd panics. Blinded by fear and overwhelmed by a sense of imminent danger before them, they turn away from the roaring and flee from the threat of death. They run wildly and desperately in the opposite direction. Of course, they run right to where the strongest lions wait in the tall grass for dinner to arrive.

“‘Run towards the roar,’ the old people used to tell the young ones. When faced with great danger and when people panic and seek a false sense of safety, run towards the roaring and go where you fear to go. For only in facing your fears you can find some safety and a way through. When the world rattles and the end seems near, go towards the roar.”

Thank you Wat, for the reminder 🥰
