Washington Post Gives Biden's Opening Speech 4 Pinocchios

The former vice president has never been known for turning a phrase with precision, but in his opening campaign speech, he told a whopper. Let’s take a look.

... the biggest problem is Biden’s sweeping declaration that “all of it went to folks at the top and corporations that pay no taxes.”

That’s simply wrong.

As we have explained before, any broad-based tax cut is going to mostly benefit the wealthy because they already pay a large share of income taxes. According to Treasury Department data, the top 20 percent of income earners paid 95.2 percent of individual income taxes in 2017. The top 10 percent paid 81 percent. The top 0.1 percent paid an astonishing 24.1 percent of taxes....

Meanwhile, as this year’s tax season ended, H&R Block reported that its clients experienced a 25 percent reduction in tax liability, which translates to about $1,200 on average. Tax refunds were mostly flat, however, as the Internal Revenue Service changed the withholding tables so people would see more in their paychecks. So that worked out to about $25 extra every week — or $3.50 a day — starting in March.

Now, this may be one reason Biden’s audience readily agreed with his statement that they didn’t “feel” the tax cut. An extra $3.50 a day might easily be missed, especially if the tax refund barely changed. The size of a tax refund appears to be very important for many Americans, even if it’s in effect an interest-free loan to the government. Nevertheless, the average reduction in tax liability was 25 percent, which also serves to illustrate that many Americans do not pay much in federal income taxes....

Most Americans received a tax cut. They may not have noticed it, but that’s no excuse for saying they never got one.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden reportedly had to correct himself over the weekend after telling donors Margaret Thatcher is concerned about the United States under President Trump.

Thatcher, the former prime minister of Britain, died in 2013 – nearly two years before Trump launched his first campaign for president.

A. Pappas, Biden mistakenly claims Margaret Thatcher, who died in 2013, is worried about Trump, Fox News (May 7, 2019), citing J. Epstein, Biden Calls Trump a ‘Clown’ While Decrying President’s Nicknames, Bloomberg (May 4, 2019).

Biden might very well be facing as criminal investigation before election day.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, who has been critical of President Donald Trump's immigration policies, previously expressed similar views, saying a barrier at the southern border was needed to stop "tons" of drugs from coming into the United States.

Speaking to a South Carolina rotary club in November 2006, then-Sen. Joe Biden (D., Del.) touted his support for the Secure Fence Act, a bill that authorized "700 miles of double-layered fence on the border through more than a billion dollars in appropriations," CNN reported Friday. Biden made the comments in the run-up to his failed presidential bid in 2008.

"Folks, I voted for a fence, I voted, unlike most Democrats—and some of you won't like it—I voted for 700 miles of fence," Biden told the group....

It's patently obvious that he was being hyperbolic. He didn't literally mean all. He meant an outsized share went to people who didn't need the help and who, in many (not literally all) cases, already weren't paying their fair share - or in some cases any at all.

Six days before he withdrew from the 1987-88 presidential race, then-Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.), who was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, confessed that he had plagiarized a paper in law school, as the Washington Post reported at the time with the headline, "Biden Admits Plagiarizing in Law School."

At the time, Senator Biden was also facing numerous other allegations of plagiarism, including lifting passages from British Labor leader Neil Kinnock, Robert F. Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, and even John F. Kennedy. Biden also misrepresented his standing in law school, claiming that he had graduated in the "top half" of his class when he actually was ranked 76 out of 85.

Now:

Former Vice President Joe Biden found himself in hot water after portions of his new proposal on climate change were found to be near-copies of the language used by a nonprofit group.

As IJR reported earlier, Biden revealed his $5 trillion climate plan early Tuesday morning, announcing his goal to have the U.S. economy be fueled by 100 percent clean energy with net-zero carbon emissions.

It didn’t take long before examples of language that Biden used were drawn into question. Josh Nelson, the vice president of CREDO Mobile, was the first Twitter user to highlight the striking comparisons....

After Nelson highlighted the similarities, several other examples were uncovered. The Daily Caller News Foundation found three additional examples of suspiciously similar language in Biden’s plan from reports from Vox, American Rivers, and Climate.gov.

On Twitter, several people noted that this would not be the first time Biden has been caught plagiarizing. In fact, plagiarism was one of the key factors in sinking his first presidential bid....

In a statement to Business Insider, Biden’s team said the lack of citations was inadvertent.

When Joe Biden announced last month, he became the instant Democratic front-runner, based on his stature and huge name ID....

But there are already signs that Biden’s previous shortcomings as a candidate are returning. And the public is noticing....

Biden, a staunch Catholic, had supported the Hyde amendment for more than three decades, but within 48 hours of being attacked for his stance by his opponents, he flip-flopped on the issue....

David Axelrod, the chief strategist behind Obama’s 2008 victory, told CNN that the furor over Biden’s flip-flop on the Hyde amendment “raises questions about his own performance and his own steadiness and his campaign’s performance.”

Then Axelrod articulated publicly what many Democrats are worrying about privately: that Biden may not be a candidate who can be counted on to avoid acting impulsively, to avoid gaffes such as excessive touching or blurting out distracting comments....

Democratic strategists also know that Biden has other vulnerabilities that, while they may not be brought up by his party rivals, will certainly be used by Republicans should he be the Democratic nominee.

Peter Schweizer, president of the Government Accountability Institute, has published extensive documentation that Biden’s son, Hunter, forged lucrative financial relationships with the state-owned Bank of China and Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings after his father visited both countries as vice president.

“Why were these foreign governments and these foreign corrupt oligarchs stuffing money into Hunter Biden’s pocket?” Schweizer asked in a recent Sirius radio interview. “That’s why I have called for Hunter Biden to testify before a Senate committee.”

Poor Joe can't even draw a crowd bigger than the crowds who cannot fit into a Trump rally.

The scandals of the Obama-Biden administration have been well-documented, but also well-covered-up by the media. They refused to give the scandals of the Obama-Biden administration the coverage they deserved when they happened, and they refused to challenge Obama when he repeatedly made claims of having a scandal-free administration and they certainly aren't going to challenge Biden echoing those same claims. I will, however, because unfortunately, too many people believe the myth of the scandal-free presidency of Barack Obama. So, here are just ten scandals of the Obama-Administration that Sleepy Joe is apparently proud of.

10. New Black Panther Party Scandal Scandal....
9. Walpin-Gate AmeriCorps Firing Scandal....
8. The Green Energy Loans Scandal....
7. The Secret Service Prostitution Scandal....
6. Iran Ransom Scandal....
5. Fast & Furious Scandal....
4. The Benghazi attack cover-up....
3. The IRS Scandal....
2. The Veterans Health Administration Scandal....
1. The Trump Spying Scandal....

Former VP and 2020 Democratic primary frontrunner Joe Biden has once again sparked an age-old debate....

Indeed, he claimed Obama’s administration was lie-and-scandal-free....

So, for those who need some clarification on whether Obama lied or had any scandals (he did) and what they were, here’s a short list for you.

1. “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor”....
2. Fast and Furious....
3. Blamed Most of His Budget Deficit on George Bush....
4. Benghazi....
5. He Promised to Bring American Troops Home....

Hahaha!

That's right up there with this:

Former Vice President Joe Biden misstated the locations of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, while speaking to donors at a high-dollar fundraiser in San Diego on Sunday night.

Biden, 76, mistakenly referred to the shootings as “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before," but later corrected himself, according to a pool report. Biden seemingly confused Houston for El Paso and Michigan for Ohio when speaking to donors about the shootings.

I think creepy Uncle Joe has passed his "use or freeze by" date.

More evidence:

Former Vice President Joe Biden incorrectly referred to Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy as having been “assassinated in the ’70s, late 70” during a Tuesday campaign event in Urbandale, Iowa.

“Just like in my generation when I got out of school, when Bobby Kennedy and Dr. King had been assassinated, in the ’70s, late 70 when I got engaged,” Biden said, “um, you know, up to that time remember – none of you women will know this but a couple men may remember – that was a time in the early, late ’60s, early ’60s and ’60s … ”

2020 Democratic presidential primary frontrunner Joe Biden (D) may have landed in hot water after denying that he and his son spoke about the younger Biden’s Ukraine dealings.

While speaking to reporters on Saturday, Biden — the former vice president from former President Barack Obama‘s administration — claimed to Fox News’ Peter Doocy that his son Hunter Biden and he “never” discussed the latter’s Ukraine “business dealings” after the younger Biden had said the opposite in a July New Yorker piece.
