Was it worth writing a story?

However, in the end I think that what the general user of this site is looking for is different from what this story has turned out to be. For now I'm going to keep it close to the vest and see if in the future there's a more appropriate venue for publication.
I think you're making a mistake thinking there is such a thing as a "general user", which I suspect you define as someone looking for stroke fodder and only stroke fodder.

But you're wrong; there are plenty of readers looking for slow burn, intimate stories - they're my audience base, for example.

That you've been so affected by a single comment is a reflection on you, not the potential readership. One comment is only one comment - delete it if you don't like it, but don't dismiss yourself so quickly. Have the courage of your convictions and continue to write - you'll find the audience you want, but only if you keep publishing content.

I should have added this to my last post but don't forget as a reader you may be limited on time and when they post the story we may read chapter 1 and 2 and by the time you post three four five six and seven we don't remember the story so that we can go back and find three four five six and seven it could be weeks or months later and we've already moved on as a reader that's why I don't like is when they post chapter stories it could be a week a month a year before the next chapter comes out in your left hanging some people don't like to write or correction read chapter stories because they don't have the time but you should still receive the appreciation of writing something that a lot of us can't do
This is the same feedback that I received from readers of my stories which is why I no longer submit them by chapter. It's easier for them and easier for me.
