While surfing the Internet, I have found several stories posted on another website that are already posted on Literotica. These stories have no by-lines and the authors are not getting their recognition. I addresed this with the webmaster at the website and they added my name and copyright to my stories, but the others are still unclaimed. I've tried to send feedback to each writer about this problem, but  Literotica labled me as a spammer and has now banned me from sending feed back to anyone. If you want to protect your stories, then here is the website: http://stories.fasthost.tv/index1.html.

:)

Here's the good news, though. You can write the webmaster there to have your name put on the story. They did it for me and the two stories that they snagged that were mine.

copy and paste the link in your address area and delete the period ( . ). That should do the trick.

Well, what do you know. That website that I was talking about has now put Literotica's site address at the end of the stories that are posted there. However, they still don't have the author's names on the stories. I suggest again that each author write to the webmaster at the site and request they put your name on it or remove your story completely. Otherwise, I doubt that they will put names on the stories with out a specified request.

Just trying to help out.

We've been in contact someone from the website in question.

They seem to think it's okay to steal stories as long as they put the author's name. This is, or course, NOT correct, and we have notified them of such.

If your story has been stolen and posted on that site, please PM me and let me know. We have let them know that they must remove all of the stolen stories within the next 48 hours or we will take the next step. The next step is not a nice step, and it's one that we rarely have to take because most webmasters are smart enough to remove stolen work once it is brought to their attention.

Hopefully, they will comply and remove the stories. :)

While I don't think that anything of mine has been stolen, I would like to add my voice to the many others on this site in thanking you, Laurel, for being so diligent in protecting author copyrights. I think we all know that it takes a fair amount of your precious time, but we all appreciate it.

Thank you.

:( I don't mean to take anything away from Laurel or others that work for Literotica, but here is the e-mail that I sent them some time ago about this website and when there was no change, that is when I tried to warn just the authors that their stories were stolen. After being blacklisted, I then went to the boards to give all of you a warning. Here is the e-mail that I sent:

I would like to warn you and other writers at Literotica.com about a website that I found. They have posted two of my stories without my permission, even though I have put copyright on them. They have even failed to put my name or my username on the stories. I do understand that Literotica is a free site and their site is also a free site, but I would like recognition for the stories that I have written, wherever they are posted on the Internet. Understand that I hold no blame to Literotica, because I know it isn't your fault. I expect people to enjoy my stories or even pass them on to others. I just want recognition for them. So please, warn your writers that this site that I'm listing below is posting stories without by-lines.

Also, if you know of any publishers that are looking for the style of stories that I write, please pass my name on to them. Thank you.

Jason Morris

I'm glad that Laurel and others are doing something about it, but give the credit where it is due, karmadog. I have to wonder if any of the authors would have even known about this if I didn't post the warnings on the boards.

Oooh - ouch. Well, it would be impossible for her to check every single site for every single story. Authors must take matters into their own hands to protect things.

I took my advice from Killer Muffin. She suggested every week or so doing a google search with titles and also a line or two from your story - something with a bit of unusual wording. That should pull up any site that has stolen things.

This is the fourth story of mine that has been stolen. In each case, I informed the webmaster (it was tough in one instance as they kept hiding) and then Laurel. She wrote to them - and each time the stolen stories were removed.

Work with her. Make her aware of the situation. She is here to cover our asses, and she does a terrific job. But she cannot check EVERY single story on Lit for theft and fraud. It will always be up to us.

I agree that it is up to us to check our stories for theft. What I'm upset about is that I had sent an e-mail at the beginning of January about this site and nothing was done about it until I posted in the boards. I didn't know that I needed to PM Laurel directly for something of this matter. I just figured that it would have been best to let Literotica webmaster know about it. At least I now know that PM Laurel with problems will get a quicker result. I'll do that next time, that going through the proper channels and e-mailing the webmaster first.

Yes - same for me the first time it happened. Start with Laurel - she is there to help!!

Good luck!!

They took one of my stories "Enticing Scent," and put it in their gay section. I suppose I should find it flattering that they liked my story enuf to steal it from Lit, (Europeans are more into sniffing underarms than Americans) but I'd appreciate them putting my name with it.

I also don't like the irony that at the bottom of my story, which I own copyright to, they claim to have a copyright. (like that will keep anyone else on the web from snagging it)

The website is Dutch. Is there any international recourse?

Laurel is working on it - that's good.

What is the name of the site? smithpeter gave me the link to a search engine that will give you the address to anything on the web - it can help you track things down (like owner's addresses).

The search engine is:

http://www.swhois.net/

I tried it earlier today for something else and had difficulty (but there is a great deal of web traffic today, obviously).

It was a site from the Netherlands that stole one of my stories - they have to follow internet laws as well - and after they were contacted they removed it (with an apology)!

Sometimes the site owner may not be aware that the stories are stolen, and sometimes the site owner is the asshole that stole them all! But theft is theft, and they can be prosecuted!

:)
