this idea is kind of based on the tv series "Dead Man's Gun"

if anyone wants to start a chain of stories this idea seems perfect. each story would be about how once a special object enters a person's life they decide to act differently and get mega lucky..then somehow lose the item.

seems to work ok for the tv show maybe someone can run with this one

Actually thought of this. It is a great format for Lit as long as each story can be read independantly. Characters can run from one story to the next and but must be as independant as the story.

Dead Man's Gun was a western but it could have been much broader. The setting was not as important as the theme. Naturally, they had a target audience. The gun, itself, was only a symbol but it tied the series together. The true theme was corruption.

My idea was series of mind control stories based on a archeological artifact. My plan was to post 3 or 4 about a week apart and then open the concept for everyone and invite them to continue. Tried this once before with a sci-fi setup but I only posted one story. Nobody took up the offer.

I plan to call the artifact, The Orpheus Pendant. Orpheus, besides being a musician, was infamous for revealing the secrets of the Gods.

The first story would be about the archeologist who found it and discovers it's powers. The obvious power would be that he/she could inflict her will but I'm thinking that it might be better if he/she became vulnerable to suggestion.

I would be interested if anybody has any ideas.

perhaps the wearer of the pendant, on hearing flute music, can hear the sensual thoughts of nearby people?

since the pendant would be from the ancient times when greek gods were supposed to be walking the earth maybe it would make the wearer able to alter things around them and/or people's behavious. give them the power of a god or something. maybe change the name to a different god for different results.

Aphrodite for love powers
Hera for female revenge
Zeus for power
Aries for control

can't think of other names right now

Not bad, either of you, but I think it would work best if the power was subtle, like in the Dead Man's Gun series.

It would be a better story if it was about the people, rather than the pendant. The pendant should be more symbolic and mysterious.

There was something that Aphrodite wore. I forget if it was chain mail armour or some kind of a belt (chastity, maybe) that was made by Hephaestus, her jealous husband, that was supposed to be magical and drove men wild. I vaguely remember a myth about someone borrowing it to make a man fall in love. That might be a better artifact for an erotic story, but not this one.
