Is there a limit on the number of times you can promote a story? Three times doesn't seem inordinately high to me. Some people seem to have a permanent story promotion as a part of every post they make. I haven't tried that one yet.

My reason for this particular posting, if one must give a reason, is that I didn't realize what a huge following the incest/taboo category has until I posted a new story in that category two days ago and got an astounding number of views and votes, vastly eclipsing the number of views and votes for We have Your Daughter which has more incest in it, but is unfortunatly listed under Novels and Novellas with no particular category indicated.

If the category is that popular, then I want those people who apparently pounce avidly on every submission to know that this story has loads of what they are looking for.

I hope no one else is offended by my sincere efforts to solicit readers for a story that I spent a shitpot full of time writing, and which has been well recieved by those who took the trouble to read it all the way through.

I don't feel that this is an issue worthy of further debate, so I'll end our back and forth over it with these thoughts.

I have a right to promote my story as I see fit within the bounds of decorum, over which you and I may differ as to its parameters.

You have the right to take umbrage at my effrontery, but what useful purpose does it serve?

For every former hall monitor or crossing guard I may offend for posting a flood (three?) of shameless plugs for my story, there may be one or more others who may be inspired to read it.

I haven't been doing the Literotica writing long, but perhaps the best solution to getting more readers from the 'Incest' group for this story might be submitting an exert (a literotica page or two from the beginning perhaps) with the end tagged with "if you liked this and want more read...."

I don't personally know if anyone has a problem with this concept, but would get the greater portion of readers to at least know about your longer version and you may get more reads that way.

But incest is one of the most (or the most) frequently read categories on Lit. And readers in the Incest categories do tend to vote. And most readers (unless they are also authors) don't hang out in the writing forums.

I'm beginning to realize that

I had never even visited the writing forums until I decided to try to find readers for my story "We Have Your Daughter". When I submitted it, I had no idea that it would be shunted off into the barren wastelands of the Novels and Novellas category. When the numbers of views and votes began trickling in at a snail's pace, I decided to see what options were available to me.

I will freely admit that I am totally ignorant of any established protocol that may have been established for the posting of plugs for a particular story. In the past, when I have perused some of the forum threads such as "Check out my wife's tits" or "Show us your pussy", I have frequently noticed sometimes lengthy plugs for long lists of stories by people contributing to the thread on every comment and reply they made in an almost continuous back and forth CB radio-like series of exchanges.

Being ignorant of the aforementioned established protocol, I foolishly assumed that one form of frequent plugging was pretty much the same as another. In User CP - on the left - click on Edit Signature Line.

There is a place to click on making a hyperlink (see the earth with the infinity symbol on the side). You can even type the name of your story first - then add the link.

Do you have any idea what step I may have omitted? Or perhaps it's because I never actually had a signature line until today. As I said previously, I never visted the writer's formum until recently, and I don't recall even knowing that there was such a thing as a signature line.
