Walter Williams on Baltimore

You really think that unionized teachers in Baltimore are padding their salaries? Really? Like teachers don't get enough shit from students, we have mentally defective adults railing against them.

A huge part of the problem is a top-heavy school administration, with documented instances of wasteful spending practices.

A few years ago there was a huge scandal because the BCPS CEO (Superintendent) spent something like $135,000 on a private in office bathroom (complete with shower), not to mention a full time limo and driver.

Of the top 100 schools systems in the nation Baltimore schools are ranked third in spending on students. Responsible citizens, parents, and investigators need to seriously question the competency of school administrators and teachers who are flooded with money but can't educate these kids beyond the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade level by the time they graduate, and why are they being graduated being this far below the state standard. These kids are being swindled.

You lie as well. You do it because you're small and weak, without character and integrity.

The guy who ran away and lies about who he is does not get to speak of character or integrity. You're a dishonorable coward. When you die I hope the Marines find out about your antics and refuse to give you funeral honors. You don't deserve them, coward.

Absolute insane ascription born of a Luk type retarded mind.

When I die, stupid, there won't be any ceremony. My trustee will see to my cremation and ashes according to my Trust instructions. This will probably occur long after you're gone.

Were you ever in the US military?

From the article:
"Baltimore's black students receive diplomas that attest that they can function at a 12th-grade level when in fact they may not be able to do so at a sixth-, seventh- or eighth-grade level. These students and their families have little reason to suspect that their diplomas are fraudulent. Thus, if they cannot pass a civil service exam, they will accuse the exam of being racist. When they get poor grades in college and flunk out, they will attribute their plight to racism."

I suspect it's a bit of both.

Some don't make it indeed in College or in the workforce, because they had poor base skills to start with. Like the article says.

But some Do encounter prejudice.

I noticed that some foreigners from specific countries with a bad reputation have to constantly prove themselves. Can't say I blame the locals, when you get burned once...

And I suspect that for those who made it for their own merit, it must be disheartening to constantly come across the implicit assumption "Aah, you must have gotten in cause Affirmative action."

In the end, the incapable among them are unfairly pushed ahead, but the trully competent are the ones who suffer.

Why does the city of Baltimore insist on ignoring state education standards? It's easier to placate lazy parents and make excuses for underachieving kids forced into a fraudulent education system designed by Democrats to keep them ignorant, poor, and dependent on them.

I don't know much about those issues in the States.

But I recall seeing a piece about a scandal where somevteachers were caught falsifying?? test results. And got sentenced for it.
They said that they did it -not for monetary gains, but because they feared that their jobs would be in jeopardy if the kids didn't pass.

So there was that.
My second reaction was: then get off your fat asses and do extra tutoring sessions after hours, or be more creative in your teaching. Instead of taking the easy road.

I'm prejudiced because I had my share of disinterested teachers in school.
I blame Them, not my laziness for graduating semi-illiterate in History amd Civic sciences.
When the teacher just reads pages from their notebook in a bored monotonous tone, and then asks you to memorize dates and years like a cookbook, how can you be interested or remember stuff?
