EEEvaaah’s eyes.

WALL E’s sounds.

I began thinking about the skill of the animator’s in the film and the insight or talent that went into the eye movements of Eva that expressed so much emotion ranging from anger to love, even, sadness and puzzlement, just in those two blue electronic impressions of eyes.

Then the sounds, halting and limited at first then slowly more expression, with Wall E’s giggle at the cockroach down his neck and Eva too, then the anger sounds of both. The humorous eye-piece motions of Wall-E, the tilt of the mechanical head, the slumping of the robotic body…on and on, and if you have seen the film, you know of what I speak.

“A picture is worth a thousand words…” Well, words cannot do justice to the many expressed emotions of the human face, eyes and body language. We can write, ‘startled’, ‘shocked’, ‘sad’, ‘downcast’, ‘wide-eyed’, ‘slitted in anger’, ‘a pensive look’, ‘enticing’, ‘glancing’, for the eyes and a similar list for body posture and movement, but still, words cannot describe the fullness of human emotions, try though we might?

I do not watch many animated films, so this may be old hat for many. No real purpose here, just thoughts and a public tribute to those who created the characters, where-ever they are.
