Waking up naked

I know this probably isn't the right place to post but the "how to" forums seem so much less polluted. I'm a little bad at explaining things so bare with me.

When I was about 16-18 there would be times when I woke up in my bed naked, with the pj's i had on the night before across the room. Has this ever happened to any of you? I haven't thought about this in a long time, but after reading the "Bad, bad, dreams" thread on the HT Cafe forum it made me think about it (which is disturbing for me). My concern is that maybe it wasn't me just being weird in my sleep, and that it could have possibly been my step-dad. There are a couple of reasons i think this. 1) When i was a young girl my step-dad "kind of" molested me. I say kind of because it wasn't under my clothes, but it was still very inappropriate kissing and touching. 2) It only happened a few times over a couple of years, and I don't remember it ever occurring again after i moved out of the house.

I don't know if this was my own doing, or something worse. Have any of you ever woke up this way but only have it occur for a couple years?

Not PJs, since I don't sleep in them, but occasionally if I'm cold I'll sleep in a tee shirt, and find the next morning I've apparently taken it off and dropped it on the floor. If someone were completely undressing you, odds are good you'd wake up, given the kind of maneuvers required to get pants off someone who is asleep (wife and I have tried this for a sleepy 5 year old, and just see how fast they wake up and squall!).

If you're worried about it, lock your door one night and see what happens. Has it ever happened when you are completely alone in the house, or whereever you're sleeping?

A lot of the time I'll go to bed in some trakkies and a singlet. If I gets too hot during the night I will usually wake up and take them off.
I remember waking up and doing it though. Never woken up naked with no recollection of why.

Perhaps you're doing this in a sleep state? Almost like sleep walking kinda thing?
Although the fact that you say it hasn't happened since you left the house is a bit odd.

As Jack said, I think you'd feel it if someone was stripping you off... unless you're a really heavy sleeper.

When i lived in my old apartment we didnt have an air conditioner, and in the summer i would go to bed with thin pj's on, and wake up completely naked with my clothes in the living room.
It happened a lot and it bothered the hell out of me and my ex.
So one night i decided to turn on the video camera in the dining room, which was on the way to the living room, and of course - here i come outta the bedroom, striping as i walked. tossed my clothes onto the floor and walked back to my room naked lol
It only happened when i was living with no AC.

Happened once to me when I was little. It scared me, and at my age(which was some age under 11 and above 4) I thought it was aliens or something. Course, it was probably just heat or something.

that really doesn't sound like "kind of". if someone shoots you only once or twice, does it mean you were only "kind of" shot?! and is it "kind of" whether they shoot you while you're standing in a field or wearing a wetsuit?



make no mistake, and make no apologies for him, sybal: if that's your recollection, then yes, your step-dad did molest you. it's contemptible, vile and might very well have happened to someone else other than you.

i'm going to guess you never reported this inappropriate touching to anyone, esp your mother. that's ultimately your decision to make, but please note that if he did it to you, it's entirely possible he did it to someone, or someones, else.

i just hope like hell you don't have any younger siblings.

That happens to me all the time, especially in the summer. It's happened for at least ten years. It's happened when I've slept alone and no one else in the house and when I've slept with my SO and with other people in the house, and all variations therein.

Don't worry about it. The only time it was bad for me was when I woke up naked, in bed with my then girlfriend, in her family's family room. My pajama pants were across the room and the rest of her family was awake. Fortunately, she grabbed them for me before anyone else noticed.

I would have thought you'd wake up whilst being undressed, especially if it happened numerous times. Surely you'd have woken up at least once? If you were sleeping in a house with a man you felt uncomfortable around, I'd hazard a guess that you wouldn't sleep too deeply.

My step-dad came on to me too. I never told my mother. I broached it with my sisters and was met with abject horror, so pretty sure it never happened to them. We suffered enough at his hands though; my mother doesn't need to hear it. I think it would break her (and he is dead now). I'm not condoning silence but I can understand why someone would choose to keep it.

I did it all the time. I get too warm and throw away my pjs whilst still half comatose and not remember. And I am a very light sleeper.

My eldest niece started to do it as well, and she's 15. She figured out that during the night that she gets too hot and just took off her pjs. She sleep in underwear and tank tops now, for what it's worth.

Unless you sleep through a war, I will reiterate what wise Firebrain said - you would most likely wake up if you were being forcefully undressed.

As far as being a light or heavy sleeper, I am an incredibly heavy sleeper. I'd always get jealous of my family talking about storms they've woken up to in the middle of the night. I think that'd be awesome to wake up during the night and watch a storm. A few months ago I was sleeping on my couch with my dog next to me. She must of heard something because she jumped up and used my face as a platform to jump off of. I got a nice cut from her claw down my forehead. I remember the pain in my head and feeling it with my hand, then looking at my hand and seeing blood on it, i immediately put my head down and fell back asleep. I woke up later with dry blood all over my face and pillow lol. That was only enough to wake me up for maybe 15 seconds.

No, I i'v never told anyone about the time with my step-dad, and there are multiple reasons why. It's not something that has emotionally broke me.

I'm not looking to just blame my step-dad for something, I have years of his toxic behavior towards me and my family to use for that. It was just something i was thinking about and thought that under the circumstances it was a possibility.

Hmmmmmmmm. It would be neat to have a girlfriend or wife like that! You will probably never really know. Maybe something was going on maybe not. At least you know that others have had similar experiences.

It is not unheard of for victims of sexual abuse to block memories of the abuse. The body has ways of protecting itself, and blocking memories that are too painful to deal with are one form of survival. Some victims begin to recall memories when they are better capable of dealing with the trauma. Sometimes memories can come rushing back if they are triggered by an event.
You are not alone. Seek therapy. There are numerous victim resources, and the fact that your step father molested you when you were younger more than qualifies you for many reduced cost or free services.

There's no "kind of" in "kind of molested me". What you described is molestation, no doubt. I suggest trying a few tests like mentioned. Lock your door or see what happens when you're home alone. In your place, I would even go as far as making a bit of a trap. If your step father trips on a string walking into your room at 2 AM, I'd suggest warning the police... or SOMEONE!

I think someone could probably strip me while I'm asleep. From what I've been told, I've slept through arguments, alarm clocks, small dogs walking around on top of me, babies crying, thunderstorms, fireworks, and all kinds of other things.

Since about the age of maybe 11, I slept in pj trousers but no top and since about 13-14 I've slept only in underwear. Every so often since I was 11 I've woken up either in my underwear under the covers, neaked under the covers, in my underwear with the covers on the floor or naked with the covers on the floor in a variety of temperatures throughout the year. Eventually I just stopped worrying about it and over the past few months I've just decided to sleep naked since I find it more comfortable. Because of that, I think I might have simply been undressing myself in my sleep either through discomfort with the temperature and/or being in my clothes while I slept.

(should probably mention as well that I often talk in my sleep, occassionally sleepwalk, can have entire conversations with people talking to me while I sleep that basically make me seem like I'm awake, occassionally scream, make the noise from the grudge or throat-sing, click my tongue and start touching my fiancee up (which annoys her so freakin' much when she's got to get up early) but I oddly don't snore who knows )

If you feel uncomfortable about why it might be happening though you could do what others have suggested and either lock your door and/or record yourself sleeping (over several nights just in case) and see what's going on that way.

I've done it more than a few times, and I'm a rather light sleeper. Go to sleep with boxers on, wake up naked. Now I just sleep naked, saves my unconscious some time

Same deal as going to bed under just sheets and waking up with the comforter up to my neck. Sometime during the night I obviously searched out my comforter at the end of my bed and unfolded it, but I don't remember it.
