Voting problems at Lit, and maybe it's Lit itself/help???

I've actually had something similar with one of my poems. They sweep the votes and the poem goes back to the top of the list. It gets one bombed and drops off the list. The one bomb happens within hours (or less) of the votes being reset. It's possible that she's sweeping the same troll votes over and over and that you're just not logged in to see the scores without those troll votes because they happen so quickly. If that makes sense.

Nope! It's the "top list/lesbian" that they fixed, put back as fraudulent, then fixed again, and as of 9:46 EST it was back to the fraudulent vote. I still have, on my submission's sheet, 41 votes, the last being a 1, so it wasn't "swept."

I almost have to believe it is an employee at Lit, or someone that has accessed it to have juggled it so weirdly. Look at Haley_F on the "top list/lesbian." She went from 78 votes to 67 votes. That babylez is now 1,2, & 3 is suspicious.

Once again, I'm NOT saying it's babylez doing it. It's either a fan, obviously, since some others have been hit, or very possibly an employee. Either way, I'm going to keep this thread hot, or "bumped" until there's resolution. It does all have a very mendacious odor, but I'm keeping my cool. :D

I hear you. Sending you a pm with info of interest. Patience.

Will copy you on pm, as well. And again, patience.

Bumped to aid in the quest for answers, and because I really like the word mendacious.

It happens in other ways too, Mismused. Had the monthly votes been tallied for June in mid-July as the normal time table, I would have had a story in the running for the top three (it had a 4.91 during the time votes should have been counted and the third place story had a 4.90 when I checked after winners were posted). But since they did it late, the score had fallen to a 4.85. Such is life I guess. I got close this time, so I figure I'll get there eventually. <shrug>

I think they did use the votes from mid July to figure it. I'm sure there are records of what the scores were when the voting period ended. My poem won for best erotic, but its score was lower than it should have been during the few days before the announcement was made because of troll votes. So, it would have had to have been the scores for the June-mid July time period that decided it.

Top list shuffling happens quite a bit from what I understand. Some authors or their fans don't like other authors intruding. Hopefully you'll get a good answer from Laurel.

(SJ, I'm pretty certain the score on that story didn't drop until after the 16th, but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.)

I just read your story.

I was going to skim it quickly, leave a few nice comments and give it an appropriately high score.

But I couldn't skim through it.

It's 12 Lit pages and still I had to read every single word.

Damn.

It's incredible.

Muse, you made me cry and smile and squirm in my chair before it was done.

Very well-written. I hope you win.

I've got news for you, I already won. Comments like that, and someone liking what I wrote is marvelous to my spirit. Thanks, girl. :rose:

I hate to say it, but the whole voting system's about as bent as I am. Laurel does her best, but I think she's fighting a losing battle. I've noticed how the top lists change on an almost hourly basis. One minute they look fairly normal; the next, about ten of the top 30 places are taken by just one author. Which author it is tends to vary.

Babylez seems to be the author of choice at the moment, but not so long ago it was Pelios. Then you get the occasional person who stays at the top for weeks on end with something like 1200 votes, while everyone else's stories seem to average out on around 150 votes...

If the Pentagon is hackable, I'm sure that Lit is a pushover.

Don't let it get you down, Mismused. I've long since stopped using the top lists as a way of measuring a writer's worth. :rose:

. . . Hey, thanks, Lit. Okay, now fix mine, and everyone else's. :D

Still being cool. Yep, really. :D

Wow.

After several hundred votes, it's pretty damn hard to get a story to move that much without extra help. And for all of one author's stories which were scattered about the top 75 to all of a sudden group towards the top? Wrong.

I'm not commenting on babylez; it may not be her doing at all. I'm cautious because I remember being seriously flamed for high scores in poetry when I hadn't done a thing myself.

BUT - something's up. I hope Laurel can take care of it.
