Votes?

I'm a new 'author' (hard to actually call myself that), but I was wondering how the "Votes" column under my story submission can go down each day (I thought that was a total). I understand that 'Views' are not current, but can anyone explain to a new poster how 'Votes' can be reduced? Is this based on the last few days too?

Sometimes overenthusiastic readers vote more than once - those extra votes are swept (removed). As far as I know, a vote from an IP address that has already been used to cast a vote will be thrown out.

Sometimes someone will maliciously vote a low vote more than once - those votes are also swept.

It is a total, but you just have to keep in mind that it may go up or down.

It will be more obvious at the moment as there is a contest in progress and sweeps are done more often and more thoroughly than at other times.

Yeah, My story "Horror" is in Non-Erotic, so not too many reads. It finally got the 10th vote to get a little red H. then it got swept and lost 5 votes!

I had that happen to one of mine in Celebrities too!

Disappearing votes is a great mystery, everyone has a theory, but to my knowledge, there is nothing written down to give an explanation. I've had various stories lose hundreds of votes at time...

I had that happen to one of mine in Celebrities too!

You were one of the five votes still there - thanks. But get this, currently 5 votes with a score of 5.00. However, one of the votes appears to be a PC that gave it a 3. Unless they voted first then went to the comment page and voted again, the math doesn't work.
