I don't see any ratings.... just hot icons....
the thing is I'm in the contest and while I can see how many votes I have, I can't see what anyone else has and it's driving me nuts not knowing whether I'm doing good or bad.

Well, they are there in the category lists on the main menu. Track the story down in its category (they are in alpha order). The sligthly delayed updated rating is right there beside the title. If you can't find it, I guess you'll have to do without.

While it's entertaining to watch other people's scores, it's not much of an indication of where you'll actually fall in the rankings.
Many times, there are a few stories that start out high with solid vote totals and stay that way. You can pretty much assume that the bulk of the winners are there.
Beyond that, things change drastically with sweeps. You can be on the bottom of the pack one minute, and just off the leader board the next -- or vice versa. A story can be bombed into oblivion with 1s, only to rise back into the top three when the vote sweeper comes through.
It's all part of the roller-coaster. Just don't be surprised by dramatic shifts -- especially during the final sweep, right before the results are announced. That one is always the deepest bone-cutter.
