Members--

I'm a little embarassed to ask---but, I wondering how tallying is done. I have some works with more votes than views. If someone has voted, he viewed the work so why the uneven count? I know one person can't vote more than once. The system alerts a voter that she has voted once already.

To gauge total reads do I add the columns?

Thanks.

Peace,

daughter

The script that runs the views is still pretty new and has a few bugs running through it, so it occasionally decides that it doesn't need to count hits on a story. It's not advanced differential porn calculus, it's a malfunction. :) Don't worry 'bout it. The voting system works just fine and they'll get the views straightened out soon if they haven't already.

Either that or Laurel and Manu were playing Me Tarzan/You Jane on the servers again and they fried something. Manu is such a perv. Personally, I vote for Me Tarzan/You Jane scenario rather than a boring ol' computer error, but that's just me.

updating the views counter is a resource hog, so it only updates the information on the views at midnight PST. (+/- an hour or two)

The votes are updated in "real time" (At least hourly)

The vote count will change whenever you refresh the page but the views count only changes once a day.
