How on earth does this happen? I had 30 votes last night on my Halloween entry. Suddenly, I only have 29, but the point value went up. It was at 4.0, now it's at 4.07. What the heck?? I'm not complaining..I just don't get this...or maybe I'm nuts! ;)

Consider it this way. You had 30 votes at an average of 4.00 or 120 vote points. Now you have 29 votes at an average of 4.07 or 118 vote points. Someone hit you with a '2' vote and Laurel removed the '2' bomb. Laurel is a nice person and you should thank her.

Oh, coolness. Like I said before, I wasn't complaining. I was just wondering, cuz that is totally wierd. :p

It keeps happening to one of my stories, which can never accumulate ten votes. It's up to nine votes for the third time now.

Ah, I think I had that happening in one of my stories too. I was sure it had been hit with a few unwarranted '1's because of a sudden drop in score, but the score has somehow recovered at a quicker her rate than the vote-count would indicate, so maybe somebody was removing those.

Laurel purges bogus votes. Since your story's chances of winning are based on it's vote average and not your total votes, this is a good thing. I don't know how she keeps up with what votes are bogus, but I am sure glad she purges the vindictive ones before she tally's the scores.

Yup..now down to 28 votes. Quite interesting. Perhaps, people are going through and bombing all stories except certain ones.

Laurel ROCKS!:)

I know what you mean there, one of my poems has had the same thing happening, and now it just sits at 9

I've been getting slammed right and left. My story was in the first batch posted. It's goes up, it goes down. The first week it was out, before there was a whole lot to read from, I accumulated a little over a hundred votes, but kept about a 4.86 average. Laurel did a great job of taking out the bombers. Then for the next 10 days or so I got twenty-five more votes or so and dropped to between a 4.81 and 4.83 average. Today when the dust settled I've ended up with a 4.81 average 139 votes and 42,976 views.

It's amazing that the first 110 votes I got that was regularly checked by Laurel thought much more of our story than the last 29 or so votes.

A lot of people have been complaining about their vote counts. We got very uncomfortable with some of the comments because we did get a hundred votes very quickly. We felt maybe it was because we got our story out on the first day, and it was 29 typed pages, four Lit. pages. People could see we took our time and worked hard to produce what we thought was a pretty viable entry. We thought they showed their appreciation by voting for it. I hope we didn't pay for that by people thinking we got too many votes to fast. Let's hope they read my story before they condemned it. The math isn't to difficult to figure out.

Anyway, rant over. We love Literotica. We're still going to write and we're still going to post, because the awesome comments and feedback we have received are what we really care about anyway!

My beef ... and it is, after all, only jerky beef ... is that last night I had 24 votes and had qualified to compete for last place.

This morning, while my accumulative vote is up 0.12, I now have only 24 votes.

It has been sitting at 24 votes all day. If it doesn't clear 25 votes soon, I am tempted to give myself a "1" vote.

Or would Laurel erase my "1" vote, too?

Hey VB!!!
Are you SURE you only have 24? Really reaaaally sure?

Maybe you should go check again. We'll wait here till you get back. Go ahead. We'll wait.

la de dah...la de dah. Um...are you going or not??

OK...we'll leave so you can go check in private. You might be shy about those kinds of things.

Later! ;)

I had 16 votes removed from one of my stories once.

It jumped back up in average score, but still...

I think it was because the story was up for monthly nomination and they wanted the score higher? No idea.

Votes don't really worry me, I'd prefer public comments to really know what the reader thought. But hey, I've given up writing so no biggie lol

:)
