Hi Ya'll

I was thinking about words.... and well, here is a link for a site where you can submit silly illogical poems, but its good practice for making things fit and constructing new words. I am offering mine on this thread, you can laugh, its ok.

If you arent familiar with the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy,..well, these poems are meant to annoy and antagonize alien intruders, ( I think)

also, crystal geode was my aol screename when I first came online, so I am not plagarizing...

try it, have some fun!!!

M

Why? O dandoodly-doo?
Does my peaking fromhunsink fryttle you?
ansr'not, you hiddn' yondroth, but sell my grypp'd glibdrom
for a donkey's tongue. w'eth'r or, n'er,
my spond-hinggly quorp reach's you, care not...
Yet, fiply-ut-koot the rang'r with'n thy ear!

***************** do I hear anyone gagging yet?? ( giggle)

At last and first, I see thy brain
Lying upon my arm, I scream
Did not you father, nor his kin
tell you your brain should remain In?

I'm speechless. Okay, I'm over it. Well, what do we do? Just make up some nonsense that sounds good? I like that second one about the brain. lol

yes Eve, basically thats all it is..but the site is pretty :) lots of stars and I believe if I were held captive and had that stuff read to me, I might not visit that galaxy again!!
and thanks about the brain thang hee hee
M

I groinked belonley up my tree,
farschniddled-woe and alacky,
deshrugging if I'm ickklalone:
I'll simply poofenpen a poen.

like that? did I do it right? :D

When I saw this thread last night, I knew Ange would be the first one to try it. Ange, have you heard of the new fad about writing poetry with your toes? I haven't either. You could be first! :D

of COURSE you did it right and very well I must say

and Eve, I actually knew of a man in the town where I was born, who had no hands ( i think he lost them in the Vienam War )and learned to type with his toes, ( among other things;)

maybe I'm weird, but I really like some of the poems on that site

These poems

remind me sorta of jabberwocky and John Lennon's take on it, In His Own Write and A Spaniard in the Works. This one always cracked me up.

The Fat Budgie by John Lennon

I have a little budgie
He is my very pal
I take him walks in Britain
I hope I always shall.

I call my budgie Jeffrey
My grandads name's the same
I call him after grandad
Who had a feathered brain.

Some people don't like budgies
The little yellow brats
They eat them up for breakfast
Or give them to their cats.

My uncle ate a budgie
It was so fat and fair.
I cried and called him Ronnie
He didn't seem to care

Although his name was Arthur
It didn't mean a thing.
He went into a petshop
And ate up everything.

The doctors looked inside him,
To see what they could do,
But he had been too greedy
And died just like a zoo.

My Jeffrey chirps and twitters
When I walk into the room,
I make him scrambled egg on toast
And feed him with a spoon.

He sings like other budgies
But only when in trim
But most of all on Sunday
Thats when i plug him in.

He flies about the room sometimes
And sits upon my bed
And if he's really happy
He does it on my head.

He's on a diet now you know
From eating ear too much
They say if he gets fatter
He'll have to wear a crutch.

It would be funny wouldn't it
A budgie on a stick
Imagine all the people
Laughing til they're sick.

So that's my budgie Jeffrey
Fat and yellow too
I love him more than daddie
And I'm only thirty-two.

yes, I've heard of people holding a pencil with their toes, but I meant for Ange to dip her tootsies in ink.
Or she could be the first hair poet. Just imagine her whipping inky hair onto paper. Hmmm... There's a poem there somewhere. Hair Poet.

the hair poet

i like that idea, Eve :)

___________

open

(the hair poet)

she wears her heart upon her sleeve
across it's draped her soul
fluent, granite, tender, alive
painted symbols reveal her being

gently she designs
word pictures in our minds
her every hope fear want and dream
placed up for public trial

her flowing auburn tresses
once grabbing at her knees
now tempt and tease the canvas
of our hearts

from her hair leaps verbal image
an instrument, every strand
marvelous tool, her literary guile
blacked with inked,awaiting review
of words escaping her soul

she sits and writes her sonnets
pony tail in hand
memories of her yesterdays
escaping through the clasp
that held her hopes and dreams

still flowing from her template
still grasping at her knees

she will not forge nor drop her brush
the words someday will come
the flowing locks she sat upon
refuse to let her hush

Be not silent, child of mine
speak forever, speak your mind!
share your genuis, let us see
the poetry hidden in your hair
you need to set it free

okay, maybe sort of lame, but if anyone wants to make it pretty, feel free :)

_________

Does this count??

Good-buy Crow, me gotta go, meow-myow.
We gotta go, troll La Pirogue through the skyou.
See Xeon, the brightest one, meow-myow.
Sun of a bitch, I get the itch in the skyou.

(Carouse)
Qambalaya, skyfish pie, we fillet Dumbo.
Causeway to the bay, and my ma cher amio.
Elephant ear, we drink beer, and be feyoh.
Son of a bitch, you get the itch, in the skyou.

La Crapaux, Fontainenot, near space is buzzin'.
Starfolk come to see Xeon, and the Quschian.
Dress in style, star-fish wild, meow-myow.
Son of a bitch, you'll get the itch in the skyou.

(Carouse)

Put fins down, look around, buy me La Pirogue.
And then I'll catch all the skritsh, in the gyro.
Swap my fun, to buy Xeon, what she need-o.
Sun of a bitch, I get that itch, in the skyou.

Oh, I did and do adore John. I even have a poem here about him. And for all my jazz blah-blah my most favorite song in the world in his In My Life. But Yoko. Lol. I saw her "read" once at St. Mark's Church in the Bowery in NYC (site of many famous poetry readings). I haven't the foggiest what she was on about.

Patti Smith on the other hand was nothing short of amazing--and she had no notes--she just walked on stage and talked.

The True Story

It's a rare thing--my hair
can sing in words that fly
from strands to grace a page
at no particular command,

as if all my scalp's a stage.

I do not claim to understand
wherefores of my head's anomoly,
although I think it rather grand
that through some anatomic oddity,

I whip out poems unplanned.

It started in the seventh grade,
when Nick Katsounis played a trick
and yanked my raven-hair so thick,
dipping it deep into the well.

I meant to tell him Go to Hell.

Instead my crowning glory zipped about
and, before i could start a pretty pout,
it commenced writing hard at work
an ode-- On Nick Katsounis: Grade School Jerk.

And now it's just out of control.

bump for tsotha :D

That was some serious digging you did, Tod. Thanks. :) I was shooting for some meaning in my Vogon poem, and I think that's what made it difficult for me. I actually wrote a (really bad) poem in normal English, and then started replacing words for made up words. Sometimes two or more words got replaced with a single word that was supposed to carry the same meaning. I shouldn't have bothered, I think — first, the meaning is not really the point, and second, no one is going to understand what your made up words mean, anyway...

Thank you again for bumping this. There are interesting vogon poems (and vocabulary) here.

THis thread is still ALIVE??? :D

I was searching for my Vogon poems a while back and found the site was gone, forever gone. I didn't remember that my poems were here.

Glad you guys are having fun withth is as the owner of the HHGTG site has passed away.

be well, oh furry blue travelers of the universe!

Sorry for been eleven years late but that link doesn't work anymore. If still possible I would like to read your poem. I am a Lennon worshiper myself.

Well ok then. :)

Here's a link that should work. It's an illustrated poem I submitted in 2004. (Thanks for checking it out!)

Thank you very much, Angeline, I've read it and enjoyed it very much, and kept it in my collection of Lennon related poems. I think you captivate his very spirit in a few words and a single illustration. It's like I was watching him doing a live gig! :)
