Personally, I think it sounds like a transparent attempt to disenfranchise a huge chunk of solid Democrats.

Just a bold recognition of the lack of maturity, lack of economic and civic knowledge of those below the age of 25 these days.Personally, I think it sounds like a transparent attempt to disenfranchise a huge chunk of solid Democrats.
I completely agree. I have thought that young people should have five votes with the number of votes diminishing until those over 60 or 70 have zero and are banned from holding office. I am 69 but I loathe old people. They care nothing about the earth or future generations. There has to be some minimum voting age, because obviously we can’t let toddlers vote, but there is a good case to be made for implementing a maximum voting age. As people get older they become more susceptible to scams, and may be tricked into voting against their self-interest. Young voters have to live with the consequences of their elders’ foolish choices for their entire lives.
Shut up, boomer.Just a bold recognition of the lack of maturity, lack of economic and civic knowledge of those below the age of 25 these days.
i know a 100-year-old lady close to home who'd take great exception at that. There has to be some minimum voting age, because obviously we can’t let toddlers vote, but there is a good case to be made for implementing a maximum voting age. what the holy fuck??!!!Best thing for the country is not allowing any retired person vote. They are done contributing to the Country. Why should they have a say?
i know a 100-year-old lady close to home who'd take great exception at that.
she has always voted and it's only since Jan 6th and its fallout that she is now thinking about NOT voting, since she was voting republican and thought trump was a catholic and quite the churchman. Women fought and some died for the right to vote...taking that away would be wrong, in my opinion. While i understand that there are people out there i'd far rather see not voting while mentally ill, abusing a substance, or religious zealots, i don't see how it would be practical or possible in most cases and to put an upper limit? yeah, i do think it would be wrong.
education&experience are the largest factors in determining one's ability to see through scams... and that comes from both ends of the age spectrum as well as running throughout
what the holy fuck??!!!
a) they most certainly DO contribute to the country: economically, experience, influence... even the top echelons of politics show exactly how much you are wrong on this. Not ALL elderly people are so out of touch they don't know what fucking day of the week it is; the wiser ones surround themselves with people of all ages and manner of experience just so they CAN stay connected.
The Silver $: Old people frequently spend and spend and spend in ways others don't, simply because they may have no mortgage left to pay, no kids left at home to raise, and an income provided by their own previous labour or that of a spouse, investments made when younger and so on and so forth. Others might sell their houses and move in with their adult children, free, leaving them a lovely disposable nest egg they enjoy spending on pampered pets, clothes, plants for their gardens, paying others to do the sort of jobs they are no longer able to take care of themselves such as decorating or gardening upkeep, electricians and plumbers and builders. Those with the money often invest, often have new work done to their homes, build extensions, new roofs, what have you, paying through the nose on jobs they might have tackled themselves when younger or couldn't spare the money to get done since there was more demand on their incomes. Of course not all old people are in a position to do so, but there are enough to impact the economies of their areas. And what about the jobs involved in care and medicine for the elderly?
for you to so callously write off all elderly people as worthless, to rob them of their voices, is, quite frankly, disgusting!
because of you posting something that disgusts me personally? don't be silly.Maybe you should take a break from here?
I had the same number in mind. The post-industrial world will have teens taking more adult responsibilities. If anything, we should be lowering the voting age to 16.
Because you are too fucking stupid to realize what I did and whybecause of you posting something that disgusts me personally? don't be silly.
For Butters...so she can keep sitting at the adult tableJust a bold recognition of the lack of maturity, lack of economic and civic knowledge of those below the age of 25 these days.
if your intent was to act as a foil to show Bright Shiny Girl's viewpoint as wrong (other side of the coin) then perhaps ask yourself why someone as rational as i am would think for even a moment to take your words at face-value. THAT speaks to your postings, not my stupidity.Because you are too fucking stupid to realize what I did and why
•Maybe you should take a break from here?
I agree that all adults should have the franchise. I was merely pointing out that once you start arguing that young people should be removed from the voter rolls, similar arguments can be used to remove old people.i know a 100-year-old lady close to home who'd take great exception at that.

If that was the criteria, most Republicans wouldn't be able to vote.Just a bold recognition of the lack of maturity, lack of economic and civic knowledge of those below the age of 25 these days.
