Hey folks: My lovely wife and I will be visiting Montreal this weekend (April 21 and 22) and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions or tips on hot nightspots where we might find some good dancing and general carrying on. We'll be staying in the city, near the University of Montreal. Any ideas or thoughts are most welcome! Thanks.

BC100000. It's been quite some years since I was in Montreal, and I bet there are some of the canadians here, who has better ideas than mine.
But here goes anyway.

As far as I remember there is a lot of action going on downtown, along St. Cathrines Street. Only a few blocks away from the university.

One of the sideroads to St. Cathrines has bars, discos and restaurants all over the place. I think the street was called was called Metcalfs. But I can't quite remember.

Also in, what is know as old Montreal, has some great places.

Hope it helps.

Oh, those of you from Canada, don't hit me if I'm way off here.....PLEASE. I'm fragile.

I loved Old Montreal -- it made me feel like I was in eighteenth century Europe.

I worked a couple of places in Montreal. There was the Hotel Champlaign, which has big review shows. And I worked a small club called the Comedy Nest, and I'd be interested to know if they were still in operation. If it is, then my picture is up on the wall.

But I pretty much loved the whole city. Enjoy.

Thanks very much! As it happens, we are staying right on Rue Ste. Catherine, so... we should be in pretty good shape. This was my first posting on these boards -- nice to get friendly and informative responses.
