To see if anyone is still alive in here.

Since Halloween is approaching, I might as well admit that I am undead...

Happy Halloween!

Still breathing, just checking in, hi to all and hugs to all...

Way to much stuff going on that no one in their right minds wants to know about, but still up for coffee, day or late night...

A very Bubbley1:rose:

JMJ is a veteran poster, he's posts over at the general board all the time. He's one of the guys here with lots of integrity and a cool head. He's one of my buds!

Good morning Princess, the chill seems to be wearing off and it looks like it's going to be a beautiful fall day. How've you been? I'm heading back out in a few minutes, going to race all over town doing a million errands. How are you going to spend this sunny day?

Wow. :) Thanks, man.

I am a regular over on the GB. I'll post to just about anything, nonsensical or not. I dn't seem to have a lot of discrimination when it comes to my posting. I am, in fact, a posting slut. ;)

LTGR is one of my bus and I've stood shoulder ot shoulder with him on many a thread, and was glad that he had my back. The guy has a brain on him that's damned impressive and I'm studying him, just so some of his charm will also be mine!

As for anything else, I'm a fairly normal guy. I"m an amateur musician and singer and a music nut. I've recently started to study for my music degree so I can become a high school choral director. I'm a single Dad of two wonderful, but distant, kids. I have a horrible sense of humor, but that doesn't stop me from telling jokes anyhow.

And I've been a Southern Maryland resident most all my life. In fact, I can easily see myself living her the rest of my days.

And it's still cold here! What the heck happened to Autumn! Where's that damned global warming everyone's hollering about?

Good evening!

Hands down, jazz is my favorite to play and sing. It's very hard for me to describe in mere words wny that it, but I'll give it a shot.

Jazz is a very structured form of music. Inside that structure, though, there's an amazing amount of room for freedom and creativity and "self". No jazz artist performs a song the same way another one does. It's one fo the few forms of music for which that is true.

I also like playing classical. There's an awful lot of power and control in a piece of classical music. A piece can at once be glorious and serene in a metter of a minute. You can't just get that anywhere.

I'm learning to enjoy singing classical music, too. It's definitely an acquired taste, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it.

Just checking in with all the fellow Lovers out there! Howdy, everyone.

Very nice jazz. I've never heard much jazz where I live, but the little that has graced this small town does fit how you described. So has to do w/ the set notes key?? (ex, some middle eastern music is like 4/8 beats, which somehow varies from reg american type. but not sure how) ME music sometime SEEMS to do a similar thing, be real slow at 1 point, then speeds up at another...ect.

just .02 worth.

Jazz,
Welcome to LIT. OMG I grwn up down here (Sourthern MD). It's sooooooooooo BORING! Yeah, if you want to settle here I guess it's quite and open spaces, and great and all that good stuff, but when you're young...snoresville.

Jazz, where'd you move from. If you're into jazz, you should check out blues alley cafe. It's downtown. They play a lot of live jazz (not just blues). Do you have a band?

I'm a big fan of jazz, too, although I'm much better at listening to it than performing! (I improvise on the piano, but not in public). Something about the tension between structure and freedom, which is much more dynamic in jazz than classical music. Plus, when you're in the audience of a live jazz performance, you know that you're in the presence of something unique, fleeting and ethereal...

Although I've lived in the DC area for 10+ years, I've never been to Blues Alley! What the heck is wrong with me?
