Wise is near the SW tip of the state, in Wise Couty, right near the KY border (closest to Cumberland, KY). It's about 90 minutes or so west of Marion, VA. I have kin all around that area.

There has to be a college in Wise. Is there? With a name like that, there just has to be. Or, is it the home of Wise Potato chips? I don't see those around much anymore, do they still exist?

I just looked out the window and saw a big buck standing where I had stored the pansies last week (he got to them once already). He looked in the window at me like he was saying "OK wise guy, we'd ya move the buffet to?"

Fortunately (for now anyway) he didn't go looking in the back yard. There's a 4 foot fence, but that won't keep him out for long.

yea, it's a branch of UVA. the school actually used to be clinch valley college, but that changed a few years ago. the town is small and crappy with or without the school.
