Hello!!

I am a new member and have seen some posts which conflict with stories on this site.

While people mention subjects which are "not allowed" on Literotica, such as beastiality, I see stories with that subject matter. There are other examples, but that is mine at this moment. It does fall under "Extreme", but I am now unsure of what the handbook actually says.

If there are rules pertaining to what is or is not permitted, I have yet to find them. Would someone please direct me to the actual guidelines?

Good days and nights,

yep yep... HUGS

would love to help, but I am still doing my bestest to keep my mouth shut..

And besides, I can't remember the last time I actually read one of the agreements to anything I have to click ok to.

I figure, if any real issues, I will learn my lesson then :)

"HeHeHe," said the blind lady. "I see what you mean."

My question was not to imply my preference of subject, but rather to portray my bewilderment as I negotiate this new paradise for my artform.

I look forward to getting to know you and all the other special people here.

Hugs and happiness,
Lascivious Wanton

no, no, silly,

the other threads... are you reading them?

never mind

I don't know, where the guidelines are, hun, and you may have any preference you want.

I am particularly fond of wood elfs and lizardmen myself *wink.

Gosh, and here it seemed I was getting the hang of this.

Apparently, there is something I've missed. Help me!! Yes, I'm trying to keep up on the threads, why am I being silly?? Thanks for telling me.

Happy day,
Lascivious Wanton

Why, you're welcome, of course, Wantonica (welcome to Lit). ;)

Newbies are quickly tested for skin thickness around here, to test any tolerance for pain from the inevitable digging in and ripping off all the flesh and guts, occasionally leaving one left with little more than a skeleton.

Well, I have an extremely thick skin. Almost as thick as the snakeskin that is stuffed and coiled on my coffee table.

If anyone gets to me, you will realize it in the outburst of sarcasm which drips from my mouth (or my fingers, as the case may be).

Happy day,
Lascivious Wanton

And no bad thing.

Sometimes something small may slip past Laurel and get onto Lit despite it being against rules. She's bombarded by god knows how many submissions each day, so you can't blame her. If there's something you feel strongly about, then send her a PM.

The Earl

Hello Earl,

Please don't misconstrue my post; I simply wanted to learn at what point I would be falling off the Literotica path of writer etiquette. Far be it for me to feel strongly against someone else's writing or reading preferences, especially enough to complain about it!!

Several of the comments in previous threads indicated subject matter "rules" that actually do not exist. There lied my confusion.

Thanks to ProofreadManx for leading me to the guidelines. Although I had read them before, it still seemed as if something had escaped me after reading the bulletin board. Apparently the confusion did not actually belong to me.

Now, if someone could please tell me how to put a quote from another post into my reply, I'll be even farther ahead!! My son would roll his eyes, press a button and I would learn how, but since he's grown and gone, this lady has become embarrassingly computer illiterate.

Thanks so much,
Lascivious Wanton

Wantonica, (wonderful name, by the way)

scroll down to the bottom of this page wot you are reading this post on. Beneath the clickable box labelled 'Forum jump' you'll find a box labelled 'Forum Rules'. Click on vB code. A page will open which - amongst many other things you probably didn't want to know - will tell you about quoting. I'm assuming you know how to highlight and cut-and-paste. (If you don't, PM me and I'll tell you how. Noone else needs to know!)

Hello love, just click on the little blue button marked *quote* delete out anything you don't want to quote on, see example above, or just leave the lot in, it matters not, if you delete out bits don't forget to leave the techie instructions in (bracketed quote at each end of the message)

As for literotica rules, as long as all characters are over 18 and that is *all* and as long as nobody is getting ripped up by rapists in a nasty way there is usually a place for it somewhere even if it is extreme.

The age thing is part of lit rules and in order to implicate said age restriction you may find a story rejected on underage grounds even at the mention of any human under 18.
If you need to bring kids into the plot as part of a family say, never mention age, just say something like children or young, and never have them within 100 miles of a sex scene.

Animal stuff, well I don't approve of it on underage grounds, I've yet to come accross an 18 yr old Labrador.

Dear W,
Thank you for the warning. I'm sure going to watch what I say around you. Just the thought of sarcasm makes me want to crawl under the bed.

Thank you for the compliment and the information Alex, I'm sure it will help me immensely along the way.

I do know how to highlight and cut and paste. I learned all about it when I accidentally hit the "paste" button a few years ago and got all my ex-husband's trash from the night before in my face.

Have a great day,
Lascivious Wanton:)

Hello Pop,

After researching, I found that what you have just told me is exactly right.

As for the 18 year old Labrador, do you know at what age a dog is actually considered an adult? People say one human year equals seven in dog age, the vet charts say different. Just kidding, you got a good giggle out of me on that one!

Take care,
Lascivious Wanton

Awww Mathgirl, don't be afraid. My sarcasm isn't nearly as vicious on paper as in real life. Then again, there are those good days...

From viewing your posts, you seem like a nice person. I'm already enjoying being amongst all of you. I can see there is a lot around here to provoke thought and learn from.

Most dogs are old enough to bred by the time they reach one year old. The first year of growth is also the most important for them, and they grow very little after the first year as well. So for those facts alone I'd say a dog's first year, and 6 months is like 13-18 years for a human, and in most social orders that makes them an adult. Though in many cultures just reaching puberty is adulthood.

Are you certain which side of the CCEI the fault lies?

Is puter acting up everywhere or just Lit or the net in general??

I get illegal operation messages when logging onto Lit sometimes, but nowhere else on the net or any other activity, so something here my OS doesn't like.

You are very preceptive. MathGirl is indead a nice person. She is unfailingly sweet and kind. Welcome, welcome.

Hey there,

One of the things about getting a group of people this size into the same forum and discussing things like erotica is that everyone has different views. Some of us are really into a certain fetish that other people are disgusted by, but will spurn a fetish that we ourselves dislike. Everyone has different morals and ethics about life and about their writing, and that is where the debate begins.

Who are we to decide what is acceptable on an erotic literature site? When we, the author's on the forum, read a story that shocks us, rather than sending a letter to Laurel demanding that it be removed because it is so disgusting, we usually come here and talk about it. Rules that might not really exist on the site exist in our minds, so if we confuse you, it's only because some of us can be pretty hypocritical at times = )

After reading the rules, you'll form your own interpretations, and your own morals will come into play. Other people are always judging you, and each other, but here in the Author's Hangout we'll try not to stone you too fast = ) Good luck on lit.
