Does anyone know if the number of views on your member page is updated in real time? Normally, I wouldn't care, but if it is then my sinking feeling that some misguided person is cheating to help me in the year end category poll will be that much more concrete. :(

No they're not, min.

I remember a couple of months ago, one of my stories had more votes than reads for a while.

I think the views count is updated about every three to four hours.

Oh, thank you, Rob. That makes me feel a little bit better. :rose:

I've never paid much attention at all to views, but my experience in viewing the member page is that it's normally pretty close to real time. There may be a five or ten minute delay, as opposed to the sometimes hours it takes for the top-lists to populate and such. I hope your suspicions are wrong, but I also trust Laurel to handle fairness in any sort of competition held here.

Good luck. :rose:

Rob's right, Min...except that I'm not sure they're even updated that quickly. I think it's just a couple of times a day.

There has been a surge in votes in several of the polls over the last 24 hours.

No offense, sweets, but I hope you're wrong and Rob's right. ;)

Nothing I can do from here other than obsess and fret, I suppose. I already PMed Laurel this morning.

Happy 10k, BTW

I've noticed that myself, but found it hard to swallow that almost all of the votes in the last 24 hours would fall my way seeing as Lauren has had a comfortable lead all month.

Thanks, Imp. And Cloudy. :rose:

I noticed that in one poll in particular and found it odd, especially since the polls have slowed down considerably over the last two weeks. (From what I can tell with my recent infrequent visits, anyway.) Pretty amazing for someone to gain 30+ votes out of nowhere, methinks.

I probably am wrong, Min. It's okay. It's not being graded, right?

I feel a bit better now. I just got reply from Laurel that they check for "irregularities" at the end of the polling. I'm not sure what that means, but I'll take any port in a storm. ;)

Of course you are! What kind of porn board do you think this is? I'll be sending out reports to everyone at the end of the semester. Don't worry, though, sweets. I'm open to, um, shall we say bribes....

Member page as in submissions and view? Yes, updated as soon as someone new votes. Tried it out once, but you need to sign out and sign in to refresh. :)

EDIT: OH. Read the voice of reason called lucky. LOL OK, ignore this. I read your post as submissions not poles.

Edit again: As in POLLS, not the hard words of sex :|, nor the northern magnetic thingy ;)

Glad you're feeling better. Also glad to know that there are some checks and balances.

Bribes I can do. Hell, grade me all you want. On a porn board, I'll be valedictorian. At a Baptist College, I have to work my ass off!

My story ended up with fewer reads than it had the first time I looked.

Did people change their minds and unread it?

Hi, sher, I unread your story. It was really hot! I didn't leave you a PC. I unvoted 5 too.

Helpful hint: If you want more people to unread your story, don't post a link.

Is it called a "surge" when a nominated story goes from 19 votes to 119? In Florida, we call those "dimpled chads with clear intent."

That's my strategy, yes.

Actually, there are 3 reasons I don't post a link to my story:

• I'd have to learn how to turn the http thing (link) into a labeled thing, like My Story

My Story looks trivial. As advertising genius David Ogilvy might have said, "Triviality, we can work with. But the appearance of triviality is inexcusable. Here's Security to escort you out of the building."

• I'm too lazy to edit my story and resubmit it. The more people who unread it, the better.

• If I ever finish my other story, I'll have to add a link called My Other Story or My Story to My Stories at which point, I will have put more thought and effort into the link(s) than I did on my first story.

How can I deal with all that when I can't even count the reasons accurately?

I can count the reasons I love you on the fingers of a severed stump.

Edited to add: So many colors; so few that work.

You're either totally dumb, or totally smart, with your last two posts. I find both options equally sexy.

shereads...that was very funny. The funny part about the views thing...is that I have seen many people have viewed - but few commented..
https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?p=12040715#post12040715

so, I had to ask...by odds alone - one has to have more comments with all these views. I also laughed to myself...these are authors...what?, they don't want to "write" something...LOL

I'm confused, Wine. I went to your link on one of the many other threads you posted it on and I see that you got multiple comments and critiques. I'm not quite sure what you're trying to get, but it might work better if you just asked flat out instead of these round about posts. :rose:
