Views on Submissions:View vs Views on story

Hello all,

this must have an obvious answer (to anyone but a newbie -> me) but I cannot find it in the FAQ: how is it that the Submissions->Views page shows more than a thousand views for a story but the story page itself shows only a handful? I understand from the FAQ that if I visit my story that adds to the view count in the Submissions->Views report, but even I am not narcissistic enough to visit my story 1000 times! What gives?

I tried searching through the forums for an answer, but either got nothing, or my search was so general that it returned too large a result set.

The data on the page lags behind what you see in your control. Its not updated as often. It will catch up.
