'Views' count?

Hello all.

I've just had my first submission approved. I'm wondering, does it take a little while for the "views" counter in the submissions control panel to start working?
Meaning, the page where I view all of my submissions, and each submission has a set of statistics that includes the average votes, number of votes, and the number of VIEWS - that box with the number of views says 0. This can't be right, because I have 29 votes, 2 public comments, and 4 private feedbacks.

Or am I interpreting the 'view' box incorrectly?

Also, just curious here, what does it take to get a little hot "H" by one's story? I had an H for a while, and now it's gone. I've had 3 more votes, and the average number even went up by .02, but the H is gone. LOL

Just trying to navigate my way around the writer's area is all.


Oh, and one more newbie question -
Is there some way I can view a linked list of my own stories, without doing a member search for my own screenname?

The votes and comments are real time.

The views are updated when Lit gets around to it. About every twelve hours on the average.

As far as a linked list of your own stories goes, the easiest way to get to all of them, once you write them, is to click on one story (like the one in your post), and then click on your author name. That will take you to your Lit home page.

No, it's reliable, it just doesn't update in real time like votes do.

Votes update immediately, views only update a couple of times a day.

How reliable can it be if it says I had 4 views, when the poems were not even up yet? Now I had a couple other poems that were released that day and that had 4 views, so I'm guessing that sometimes there are glitches and one read from one poem/story might get counted in another poem/story as well. I don't really mind, it's probably close enough for horseshoes.

Because the people that approve them "view" them before they get posted, that's why.

Honestly, since you're new here, don't you think it might be wise to listen to those of us that aren't?

Because any votes that come from the same IP address are "swept" or eliminated. So if someone really liked your story (or really hated it), and voted two or three times, the extra votes are deleted.

My little fairy had the same thing. It didn't have apprved on it, but it didn't post for nearly a week after! I was so worried it was going to be rejected!

Yeah, I was directing a friend to read my stories and it kept saying 0 so I kept bugging her "read it yet?" and she said "yes! calm down!" XD


Now, after getting a feel for how things post, I'm not so worried about it any more

They do sweeps, and various votes are removed for various reasons, some of which might be as follows,

1. Double votes
2. Troll votes
3. Mysterious votes cast in the light of the full moon.
4. Votes from your mother's next door neighbor.
5. Votes cast by your cat.

At least 2 of the 5 are correct....
