How many "Views" of a story is considered a lot?

One of my stories has been viewed 14,000 times.

I was just wondering how high the counter goes up to and if this is an average number.

ZipCode :p

The counter doesn't have a limit -- it will count however many people view your story (there's probably an upper limit on the data type used to store the counter -- somewhere around 14 Billion if I remember correctly -- but it's high enough to be irrelevant.

14,000 views in how many days? What category is your story in?

14,000 is a respectable number for one day in most categories, but it's a neglible number for a story that's been up a year or so.

A story by Emmah titled "A" My Name is Alice is currently listed as having 681,055 reads at the top of the "Most Read Stories" list.

It would appear you are in no danger of hitting your head on the ceiling. 14,000 reads is a respectable showing. You did not say how many stories you have posted. I can tell you, based on my experience, your number of reads will go up as you build a following.

Best of luck to you in your future writing efforts.

::Gulp:: wow.

The story Return of the Jedi (Cutting Room Floor) has been up for about a month and a half.

You will find different categories have varying size readership bases. Take a look at the top 500 most read stories. Although categories are not listed, you can usually figure that out from the titles.

Just my personal opinion, I think you have a respectable response to your story. Keep writing and your readership numbers will go up.

"A" My Name is Alice got those votes based on it being the first story in the list, so don't let it hurt your ego too bad.

It also depends in what catagory you post under Laurel posted a story of mine under 'mature' and it got 18000 DL's inside a week.And high vote 4.58 at one point now 4.55
But another story I posted regrettably under Non-Human (bad choise) has only had 5136 in a month or so. Sinse in my opinion that story is better and has recieved superb feedbacks, only 5k reads is most disapointing.
But then you win some and you loose some:D

Thank you Couture. I have always wondered why that story was so far out in front in number of reads. Sometimes the simple answer is the correct one.
