Anyone from/living there? There is a very remote chance that we might relocate there - or I'd at least be travelling there for periods.

I'm not familiar with the West Coast at all, but I've know that Vancouver is ridiculously expensive to live in. How does Victoria compare - is the housing as expensive, is it big city or small town in its atmosphere, what would be the major pros or cons with living there? I know I have to do some research, but I'm trying to get a general sense of the place before I start looking seriously.

Pro? Absolutely, breathtakingly beautiful.

Con? Gotta take a ferry to the mainland (which could also be a pro, depending on how you look at it).

I've heard that the cost of living is the same in Victoria as it is in Vancouver, if not worse (we've looked into moving/immigrating there as well.) I can put you in touch with another Litster in Victoria if you like. PM me for details.

[raises hand] Longtime Seattlite who'd emigrate to Vancouver in a heartbeat if we could find something for the Babe to do in Canada that paid as well as her Federal job here. Vancouver is currently considered the most livable city in the world, with Zurich and Vienna tied for 2nd place. There are so many good restaurants that you could eat at a new one every night and not be done with them a year a later. Wreck Beach is a popular nude beach. There's all kinds of art, theater, and culture, they believe in gay marriage and the futility of prosecuting personal marijuana use, it's cheap to fly to England and Europe, and it's NOT THE U.S.!!!!!! How much better could you get?

If I don't make it there before, I believe I'll retire there.

Oh shoot, Rogue. I was getting all excited that this might be a thread about Victoria Beckham.

She might not want to move to Victoria BC.
You know, seeing that it would probably just be big enough to store all of her shoes and nothing else.
